Help needed for new chameleon

What do you suggest instead then?

Nothing. Now if you are talking about needing to keep the humidity higher then live plants are your best option. If you still have a hard time keeping humidity up then you can always close off a couple sides with some plastic which will still allow for good airflow and also upping your humidity.

Also, do you know what each color and pattern of a veiled chameleon means, I've noted that pale green is stressed (guess) but his other pattern I can't tell what it means.

As others said more cover and branches. Create basking spots under each light.

Also I would get the cage off the floor. Chameleons want to be elevated and yours is stressed being kept on the ground. After elevating it add some drainage so you can make it rain in the cage when misting.

Good luck!

Thanks, how would you suggest to make a drainage system

Welcome to the forum! This is a good place to learn about chameleons!

Supplementing/dusting the insects is very important and so is gutloading the insects. Do you know how??

I saw your pictures but it would also be benificial to see your friend up close. I am not saying that you dont have sufficient lighting but for a 36*36*48 cage and branches so low you might want to add more light, and if you dont have a dripper system atleast put water in a plastic cup with a hole in the bottum so he can lap up some water.
