Hello everyone...I need lots of help. I have never had chameleons before but now I have a veiled and Jackson. They are around 6 months old. I have lights( basking, day/night and Reptisun Sun 10) and 2 Exo-Terra natural terrariums. As of right now I have them in the terrarium but from everything I have read they need the screen cages. Can someone please just tell me what I need to get their cages set up correctly? I don't want to buy things and than find out I have the set up wrong.

I am looking at buying the LLL cages for these guys. I just can't figure out the best cage add ons misters, waterfalls etc.

Also, is there a cage out there that I could get and just put a divider in the middle? I know they can't live together so a divided cage would be great.

Any and all help would be great...I would like these guys to have a chance in life and I would like to place the order ASAP so I can get them set up in the correct cages...

It sounds as if you need quite a bit of help - we are glad to have you here and will answer any questions!

Here are links to those care guides for you to read and re-read:

Jackson's - https://www.chameleonforums.com/care/caresheets/jacksons/

Veiled - https://www.chameleonforums.com/care/caresheets/veiled/

The two animals you own will require different care aspects - and therefore will need to be housed separately (not to mention that they are solitary animals). Keep them out of view for each other, for chameleons stress very easily, leading to health issues.

Do you know how to tell the sex of either animal? Are there any specific questions you have otherwise? The care sheets walk through properly setting up an enclosure - this should get you started well!

I believe I misread that you only had one terrarium at the moment - my mistake.

It is great that you are devoted to providing the animals with the proper set-up. Glad to have you here.

Yes they are in separate cages ;-) and they are not around each other...
My biggest question is...what is the best mister? the reviews on all the standard misters are not good. Is there a name brand out there that holds up well? or should I just mist everything down by hand? What way is better???

Here is a list of the site's sponsors that includes a couple automatic misters:

The site favorites seem to be MistKing then Aqua Zamp - though it depends on who you ask. There are so many reviews to read!
I did quite a bit of reading before purchasing my automatic mister (ended up going with a Monsoon mister that I purchased at a lower price at a petstore nearby). I am happy with my mister, though my second choice was MistKing if I wanted to spend a little more money.

I am away for more than 8 hours a day, so I have my automatic mister go off multiple times throughout the day, I have a dripper that runs all day long, my lights are on timers, and I cup feed crickets and other bugs to my chameleon. It depends on how much time you have to hand mist multiple times a day. :)

You are very welcome! You've come to the right place.

If you ever need any advice, feel free to message me. People are always willing to help here.

Have a good day/night!

There's a thread in "enclosures and supplies" right now discussing the options on misting systems- I had a monsoon that broke after a month- I have the Aquazamp now - I love it - I have a Jackson and a Panther - Jackson's need less d3- and can overdose on it especially when young. With my Jackson I need a good drainage system - as it's a pain to get her to drink so I end up running more water through the cage - one of my worst newbie mistakes was not planning ahead for drainage -
