Hi,
I have just bought a new flexarium for my chameleon it is 37x37x63.5cm.
I am going to buy a clamp lamp tommorrow with a 100W bulb.
what else could i do to make the flexarium have more heat ?
Also what live plants could i have in it ?
Thanks ,
Josh

Your flexarium is a lil bite small for her, don't you think ? For the heat a 100 watt bulb is normally enough, but those bulbs don't have the brightest light. The best solution is probably a Lucky Reptile bright-sun set.

I think 100 watts is a bit much for a flexarium it might burn a hole straight through it my max with flexis is I would say 75 watts.

I do not think that the flexarium is too small as she is not a fully grown cham.
And thanks for telling me about the Lucky Reptile bright-sun set.

I've used a 100w spotlight on top of my flexi and it hasn't burned through, so it would work, but it'd definitely be too much in that size enclosure, especially now with the weather being so nice. I've currently only got a 40w spotlight and that's doing the job nicely in my 175gallon flexi (72x72x144cm). We are having unusually warm weather at the moment though so that's why it suffices. A 60w should be fine. Get a dimmer if you don't want the hassle of having to switch out bulbs and work out distance to get the correct temperature. Also, try and buy halogen spotlights from homebase/B&Q/etc as I've been told that they give out a better spectrum of light and produce more heat for the wattage than a normal incandescent bulb does.

The plant should be fine in its pot! :D

100 watt wont burn through or be too hot provided you suspend it above, at whatever distance provides the right basking temp for your young cham. Use a reliable thermometer or temp gun.
If its a veiled, why use flooring at all? especially in a flexarium. Not nessesary really and increases the risk of it eating some (possibly becoming impacted).
:)

Okay thanks,
I will get a 75W bulb or a halogen bulb (most likely)and if it is too hot suspend above or i will get a 50W.
Also i wont use flooring then.
Josh , :D

Yeah, you can get a halogen spot from homebase for like £3. Although, sadly, don't buy the energy saving ones as they don't give off as much heat! Hence why they're energy saving! :D
