Help please!! Scared chameleon!

Hi everyone...Im a new member and I have a serious issue right now. Ruby, our chameleon, is normally the sweetest girl you would ever meet. She has great color, a great personality...I even took her to the vet last week and she loved the Dr.
Well I am house sitting this week, and slept out last night. I had Ruby all set up in her house, and left thinking she would be fine! Well apparently my roommate and her BF got in a big fight (and there were also people staying at my house I was unaware of) and something severely spooked Ruby. Supposedly no one went in her room...Or bothered her. Im thinking she was pertified of slamming doors and yelling. I am hoping no one handled her without my permission!
I am so upset because when I came home, her color was really dark and almost gray...She was so scared of me. When I reached for her she got so scared she tried to bite me. NEVER has she displayed that behavior with us before. She is usually so sweet.
What can I do to help her get over this? Will her disposition change permanently now? I am devastated and feel so bad.
I am so angry that this happened and could have been prevented.

I would just let her be for a bit, when my veiled seems a little out of character I just leave him for a little while and everything goes back to normal.

Obviously someone must have done something to spook her. Maybe she just needs some time to settle back down from the whatever trauma turned her like that. I highly doubt if she has been a friendly chameleon that in one day she is going to turn mean. Maybe just back off from handling her and see what happens.

Open her cage door and set a plant in front of the opened door and watch from a distance and see if she'll come out on the plant. Once out offer her some hand fed food and see if she'll come around.

Sounds very weird how she changed so suddenly, I also think something or someone must have done something to spook her.

I think Jann is right with what you should try, definetely try hand feeding, that should maybe get her a bit more comfortable again.

Thanks so much guys! She was so happy the night before...I have a new giant home for her...And now she's still so scared! I hope she's not sick, or I am missing signs! I am going to try everything you all suggested
