Help plzzz!!Why is he closing his eye?

Dont worry about them hiding..They will eventually move and get eaten. Try releasing the crickets one by one on the side of the screen. If im reading this correctly i have a brother to yours. He is also dark 75% of the day. When i throw feeders in he normally lightens up and throw pretty blues and greens. Personally even though he has been with me for over a month now. I think he is still getting use to my ways :) Double check your temps, put a linear tube on him, give him lots of vines and foliage. Personally i think he just needs a little time. ALSO IF HE IS NOT EATING FROM ThE CUP>>> FREE RANGE YOUR CRICKETS!

K heres the story, I have a 4 month old panther, he never use to close his eyes during daylight hrs until yesterday.

yes i had the cfl uvb, i read that they could dmg your chams eyes so i turned off his uvb light rushed to petsmart and got the reptisun/w 5.0 reptiglo tube uvb

I used the cfl uvb for 2 weeks never seemed to be bothered by it untill yesterday while he was basking, whttps://www.chameleonforums.com/images/editor/separator.gifhich leads to my next question- would they close their eyes while they bask?

so far iv only seen him close his right eye and it looks like hes not opening them all the way maybe 75% open except when hes eating, now as im typing hes chilling under some leafs with his right eye closed

Thanks^^

2 possibilities i know of, its either because of infection in the eye and closing the eye is simply cleansing it
or it mu=ight be your bulb what type is it??

yes thats what i meant. i dont know if this was already covered or not but you want to also make sure he is not getting a draft from a door, window, fan, etc. Also, spray his cage atleast 3-4 times a day.

In the photo the thermometer shows around 82/83 but I recently turned it on through out the day it stays between 85-88 but the room temp is set to 72 plus i added a humidifier in my room so idk hes not near any vents or fans either. for the free ranging the feeders i just don't want them to hide in the dense leafs and have him not find em and eventually have alot of crickets in his cage that might nibble on him, this guy is the most stressful pet i ever had lol but its worth it once i see him doing good, also would you gutload/dust the red runners, supers, and dubias the same way as crickets? Bringing him to the vet friday prety sure he doesnt have anything but better safe than sorry
Yes dust all your feeders the same way:) also I would still tell you to free range if he is not eating out of the cup. Also put your cup more in to his cage he is still getting use to being there and will not always feel safe to go to the front of the cage.

I couldn't agree more. Also yes you are right they are cham brothers:)

iv been strictly cup feeding for 5 days before i put half in the cage and the other half in the cup should i just let them all free range? and when should i start training him to eat out of the cup/bottle i was hoping to have him free range when he becomes an adult

I have a male of the same age who also closes his eye, he did blow some bubbles a week ago but that's stopped after my local reptile shop looked after him for me

He said to only mist once a day because he is in a 65 exo, is that ok?
