Hi, I am new here and am hoping someone will be able to help me with my veiled chameleon. She is almost 1 year old and seems to be very healthy. She has layed one clutch of eggs in aug and seems to be growing with more right now. 3 Days ago i noticed her eye lids are swollen or puffy. i tried cleaning the cage and water. Gave her a shower. I dust the crickets with a multi-vitamin. All i can find is that maybe its a vitamin a deficiency. I hope someone can please help. I will attach a picture of her eyes.

I am sorry i didnt see this before. i hope this helps more:

Chameleon Info:

Your Chameleon - Female Veiled 11 months. had her for about 9-9 1/2 months
Handling - around every 2-3 days.
Feeding - Crickets daily. she eats about 5-7 a day. dusting them with calcium and multi vitamin.
Supplements - exoterra multi vitamin
Watering - drip system. fill up daily. mist every day
Fecal Description - looks the same as always
History - I also have a male but have a divider so they cant see each other and they are in seperate cages. I have let them out together and they have mated twice. (once before first clutch and once the night i noticed her eyes)

Cage Info:

Cage Type - screen cage. 4 ft tall 2 ft wide by 2 ft deep
Lighting - on timers for about 10 hours of light a day. repti glo 5.0 bulb
Temperature - around 80 degrees. overnight drops to house temp of 71 degrees.
Humidity - 50-70 percent humidity usually. will mist extra if it gets below 55. Take them into shower on occasion and they will drink the water when i drip it off my finger
Plants - fiscus i think is the name of the plants. have had them in both cages for about 4 months. i see them eating the leaves once in a while
Placement - cage is at 7 ft at top. around 3 ft on bottm.
Location - minnesota

Current Problem - stated above also attached picture. Thank you guys very much.

The only thing i do is dust the crickets every other day with the exo terra vitamin. I don't know anything else on any other supplements for them. occasionally i would feed them a few meal worms and or wax worms but they didnt seem to like them and i havent done that for over a month now

I believe that's the problem. She (and your male too) should get pure calcium every feeding. If she is gravid it's especially important. Multivitamin should be given only twice a month.
I would recommend to stop using multivitamin for a while and go to vet asap.
I'm not a big expert, so you should wait a while for someone else to confirm.
PS. Does your multivitamin supplement contain wit. D3? If not, you also need calcium with vit. d3.
You could also add more variaty to their diet.

okay thank you very much! what would you reccomend for variety? the people at the pet store said they were 2 weeks old when we got her but i think she was more like 2 months. But i got her early january and they breed the last day of august. so she was at least 8 months. I will check on what is in the multi vitamn and i will go to the pet store in the am and get some more calcium

I'm afraid that wont help much. If she wasn't getting calcium for months she needs vet's help. Do you have other pictures of her?
You can get roaches, silkworms, hornworms, walking sticks, mealworms, superworms, though the last two one are fatty, so use it only as a treat. There are more, I will give you link later as I'm on my mobile phone now.

Her eyes look like my male veiled's eyes - I've had him to the vet twice for an eye infection and it never healed - I truly believe it is caused by either over supplementing (in my case) or under supplementing (in your case). I have recently changed all my supplements, but it really appears you need to introduce more supp's into hers (and your males!) diet! General rule of umb is: calcium without D3 at every feeding. Calcium w/D3 twice a month and a multivitamin twice a month. If you don't get ther the proper care from a vet RIGHT NOW, and if she's gravid what little calcium she has in her bones will be pulled out for use in developing eggs. When this happens her bone mass will become less and less so that eventually walking will cause her to break limbs, she will develop other health problems and eventually die. You really. REALLY need to get her to the vet for perhaps a shot of liquid calcium and some antibiotics for her eyes. Tell the vet she may be gravid and he can check with an x-ray. Please get her some calcium! And I'm curious, what did you do with her eggs from the previous mating??

he there i hope your chameleon is getting better but if you could get some terramycin on e bay it helps with the eyes and a lot of natural sun light is best.it really works wonders. well if you could check cage for any sharp edges, like screen poking out of broken branches if you use a fig tree that could poke your chameleon as it cruises around cage. well i hope your chameleon recovers...
