help! reptisun 5.0 uvb needs replacement?

hi, i've been using my 5.0uvb reptisun tube for about 9months now and is still working. do i need to replace it every few months? if yes, how long? thanks! also, does anyone have a review on arcadia 12%uvb with d3+? is it ok to use for my veiled? thanks guys!

yes you do.
the uvb output drastically drops after about 6 months or so.
I replace mine every 7-8 months, just because i have 5 bulbs to replace.

thanks camimom! i have another problem, there's no reptisun 5.0uvb available in our local pet store, i was looking into buying arcadia 12%uvb tube. have you tried it? is it okay to use? thanks!

dont get the arcadia 12% unless you have a meter.

If you want more light(not uvb) you can pair a $50 arcadia with a $10 ultrasun since its a colormatch.

@nightanole, another question! when should i be using a reptisun 5.0 or 10.0? do i base it on the size of the cage or the age of the cham? thanks would arcadia 6% alone with a basking lamp be great for a 2x2x4 enclosure? thanks!

An arcaida T5 HO will put out double the light or more than a repisun ore more. Its why they recomend a meter if you get the 12% because with a reflector they will be putting out 10x more radiation than a reptisun 10.0 with no reflector.

If the lizard is over 4 months old and the cage has leaves in it you can run a 10.0 no problem. The only time you would want to switch to a 5.0 would be for a baby that has no shade, or a injured cham that cant have a normal setup.

If you are running a xlarge reptibreeze i would get an arcadia 6% with reflector. It will be putting out 10uws at the 2.5 foot mark, which is the min radiation for a happy cham. Towards the very top of the cage it will be in the 150uws range, which is full sun. The cham will be fine as long has they have lots of sticks to go up and down, and lots of leave to hide in. The cham will regulate its own uv radiation if you setup the cage right.
