The other day my chameleon fell from the middle of his cage. It was atleast a 1 ft. drop. I cant tell if his leg is broken or not. I dont wanna take him to the vet if nothing is wrong. Also he hasnt been eating the past few days. I put about 15 super worms in a container and when i went to mist an hour later the container was tipped over and empty. im not sure if hes eating them or letting them run free. thanks in advance.:(

Can you post more pics, so we can see more of your cham. Angle of the pics makes it hard. It may just be sprained or bruised. Xray would be the best.

His ankle looks to be swollen and it is possible he could have a condition called gout. Is there any possibility his ankle was swollen before he fell and you did not notice it??

Knee definitely doesn't look right and the ankle looks swollen.

What supplements do you use specifically and how often for each? What do you feed/gutload the insects with?

I feed him crickets and i gut load them with zoo-med natural cricket care withh added vitamins and minerals. I also feed him super worms and i didnt know you could gut load them... i dust his food 3 times a week with reptocal for all reptiles, includes calcium and vitamin d3. I looked at a photo i had of him earlier and the knee looks the same to me. ill post it.

The first pic is a picture i took of him just now (awoke him from his sleep) and the second is a picture from months ago. I tried to zoom it in but it wont allow me to.

Glad you are getting him to the vet. Let us know as I would be interested if it is not gout, then what it might be. My vet also did a needle aspiration into the lump and the debris he got out was then viewed under the microscope. It had these spiky looking crystals and that coupled with his blood work gave the diagnosis of gout. I never fed a high protein diet, or a high protein gutload to my feeders as it is suspected to be one of the causes of gout. My chameleon did have a foot sore that was treated for quite some time and my vet thinks all the meds did a number on his kidneys. Once the kidneys are not able to flush out the uric acid in the urine, it gets distributed to other parts of the body. I hope you get a different diagnosis because it is not easy to get rid of from what I understand.
