hi guys yesterday my cham started to dig on the left corner of my enclosure, she dig throught the substrate then she met the mesh and then she dig to the lava rocks under the mesh.
today she started digging on the same spot again, and then she was digging on the right corner too. I placed a lay bin but she ingores it. after a while I found an egg over the lay bin (on the surface, no holes on it). then she went again on the corners and kept digging but Idk if she actually has laid other eggs. what do I do? is she ok? she was digging between the lava rocks on the bottom, how much time should I wait?

help please. this is her first time and also mine,I'm so nervous..

Yes female chameleon do that I have to say around 9 months. How old was she? And it’s completely normal. Your on the lucky side she didn’t get egg bound. Just pick up the eggs and discard them. Just keep a big pot of non chemical dirt in there like you said you put in a laying pot. Just keep it moist. You can take yours out for a few months then put it back in.. but I just keep mine in there all the time. This is a big thing about getting a female chameleon.. and she could of died! Please do your research. Hope this helped a little I’m not an expert here just a loyal female cham. Owner!!

Hey and also pick up some liquid calcium, it’s a must. If she’s looking really weak like mine does after laying just hydrate her and feed her! She worked so hard. I would give her something fatty mine loves wax worms not too many.

Hmm.. that dosn’t seem normal. Now she might be done. Go ahead and pick up and count how many she has had. My chameleon has 40-50. (y)
They usually don’t take breaks.. they want to get it over with and done. Oh and how long was she digging my chameleon only took 8 hr. Sometimes they last for 72 hrs and they do sleep while they dig. Did you see her dig a little bit before she laid?

ok now shes back on the soil, in another spot, dammit she must hate that lay bin she's digging everywhere around it

Ok now is soil on the bottom of your enclosure? Now take a trash bin, and put some non chemical soil in it. Place her in that and but a heating bulb a little bit away how big is her flower pot? Please I need to know how many eggs she laid

there's soil on the bottom of my enclosure, its bioactive. I already placed a lay bin on it with soil inside, but the veiled is keeping to dig on the bottom of the enclosure, not in the lay bin, actually I just see one egg on the lay bin. but the lay bin is intact, there are no tunnels or holes on it. there's just this egg right there. I dont know if she laid other eggs on the corners of the enclosure cause I dont wanna bother her, I cant see any, maybe they are covered with soil. for now I just see this one egg sir.

Ok maybe she just perfers the ground then the bin? How deep is the soil? I would not worry at this point I mean if she’s laying eggs she’s good. Yes what ever room she is in make sure you are not in it I like to place a clean blanket over top of the cage.

ye

yeah well the soil is not so deep but I hope she'll lay eggs there anyway. I've put my jacket on the cage but I think she was scared so I took that off and went out of the room just like it was before. tonight I'll put again the jacket on it when she's asleep :)

If she doesn't lay in the next day or 2 I would take her to the vet. She may not like the soil conditions and the lava rocks. I would try the garbage can method if she hasn't laid by 2morrow and if that doesn't work I would take her to the vet. That fact that she dropped 1 egg is concerning to me. I'm not sure what advice kami baby was trying to give you but most of it did not make sense to me.

she's again on the branches now, she stopped digging, I think she will keep digging tomorrow. I hope so. thank you guys for the advice. I don't know if she laid other eggs, I can't see them and I don't wanna put my hands on the holes she made for now. I'll wait until tomorrow night and see. I won't be home this wednesday and I'll come back home thursday in the late afternoon, hope she'll be ok.

Its not unusual for them to start and stop digging and just being restless in general. The one egg thing however is unusual. You will know if she laid her eggs just by looking at her, she will be very skinny again. It will be obvious. How old is the photo in your original post?

I took this pic yesterday, but she was a lil bit pissed too. anyway yeah now she looks skinnier. but I can't find the other eggs just by looking at the holes, I should put my hands in there and see, but I don't want her to see me. now she's on the branches and she saw me from behind the blanket lol, but I don't bother her when she's digging. I don't know what to do, she's also under meds 'cause she has parasites and I'm giving her the Panacur but luckily today was her last day. no more meds according to the vet.

For now she keeps going down from time to time, she did't dig anymore since this early afternoon. she's just going up and down to the holes. I could put her in a bigger bin but I'm afraid she would not lay eggs if she gets scared.

this is the egg btw.. just this one

guys what if tomorrow morning I make another bigger lay bin and I put her in it with a heat lamp and wait for the whole day? should she start digging?

Can you put something next to that egg to give it some scale? like a quarter maybe? That looks like an unfertilized egg... If I were you I would wait for her to go to sleep tonight and I would search for the eggs. make sure she cant wake up and see you. If you don't find the eggs do the trashcan method as soon as she wakes up and absolutely do not disturb her all day. If you still have no eggs at that point you are out of options and she needs to go to a vet ASAP. You may even want to skip the trashcan method all together and just bring her in the morning.

yes the egg is infertile, anyway tomorrow I will make her the bin and I will take her and put in the bin for the whole day. can I take her when I see her on the ground or do I wait her to be again on the branches?
btw I checked and I cant see other eggs. I sadly dont have money for another vet visit. she had a visit 5 days ago and they told me she was fine.. fuck em. I really hope she will lay eggs by tomorrow or wednesday.. thank you all guys
