HELP!!! Why doesn't my chameleon change colors

hi I have two female veilds and one of them is always a light greenalmost yellow with an almost black pattern on it all the time ? Then I have another one that stays green no matter what ? What's going on is there somthing wrong with them or is it normal ... I also want to know at what age does a female develop her casque on her head

The black one is probably always stressed out. I would be more worried about the one that always changes colors than the one that usually doesn't.

What is your experience with chameleons? It sounds like you may be a victim of the common chameleon myth . Chameleons do not use color to try to blend in with their environnment. Instead they use their colors to express behavior and regulate temperature. Also, each chameleon has a different personality from the next. Some will show vibrant colors, while others may show bland colors throughout most of the day. Fill out the help form that Syn has linked for you. It will allow the members on this site to better understand your situation and therefore provide better advice.

K thanks my girl friend has them in the same terrarium right now do u think that's why she's stressed so much

That's what I was going to ask.. it sounds like they are talking about a chameleon other than a veiled if the casque isn't noticeable..

I know about what they use their colors for I told her it wasent good to put them in the same terraium so I'll seperate them and see what that does

at the pet store they said they were flathead chameleons and I diddnt think there was any suck thing so I looked it up and couldn't find a thing about it so we went to a reptile expert and she said they were female veileds

Well, still, please get pictures when you can, so far they do not sound like veileds, and some reptile "experts" like to blow smoke out theirs.

Is there any possiblity you misheard what the people at the pet store said? Maybe they are flapneck (sounds like flathead) chameleons, which could also be another reason why you see no prominent casque.

First of all please seperate them ! Then probably both will look very nice, with a healthy green

Get a photobucket account and you can post pics with your iPhone, I use that all the time
