i currently have the repti sun 10.0 and the basking spot 100 w , i also have
the vapor mercury 100 w from zoo med i just wanted to know what was best for my male ambilobe tnx

as far as the uvb light, it is really personal preference. Most of us use the 5.0's but there are members who use the 10.0's successfully also. I have read on here members liking the mercury bulbs also. Either one of them is ok. As far as the 100 watt for basking. What basking temp is that going to give you? What kind of chameleon and how old depends on how hot your basking temp will be. 100 watt might be too much but depends on where you live and how cold it is in your house.

Welcome to the forums! A mercury vapor and a 100w are going to put off a lot of heat. For an adult panther you don't want the temperature to be higher than 90-95F. If it's younger then it will be even lower. Make sure you are getting accurate temperature readings from those bulbs at the place where your chameleon will be sitting under them to decide if you are getting the right amount or too much heat. Too hot and they can overheat or get burned. The best way to tell is to see what temperature gradient you get from the bulbs you have.
