Help with handling

Hi, I've had my veiled Cham for about 4 months now, I've had him since he was about a month old and I've only successfully handled him a few times, I would like to get to the point where he likes to be handled and outside off his enclosure because I do want to eventually set up a free range part where he can go and chill while I'm in the room with him. So I was just wondering if anyone has any techniques to help him become more friendly towards me because at the moment if I put my hand near him sometimes he doesn't move, sometimes he runs away and sometimes he will hiss, but the fact I've successfully handled him in the past makes me think he isn't 100% against it. Any tips or hints would be much appreciated

I've had my veild for about 4 months and only handled him the day I brought him home. He just doesn't want to walk on me on his own. He dose love to come out though I set a ladder between his cage and a giant split leaf plant. If I'm home I just leave it open and let him come and go as he pleases. He dose sometimes wander off so I have to keep my on him. He will hand feed although he will sometimes hiss and snatch his food at the same time.he doesn't really run from but shows no interest in climbing on me. Like I've read a million times on this forum time and patience.

Mine free-range as a 1.2 and wil lumber over to be fed with forceps. I respect their natural inclination not to ant to be approached anymore than that.

Thanks for your input. Nice to hear about other peoples chams and how they are dealing with them, I've got round to my little guy being happy with me putting my hand in with a wax worm on it and he always eats it (sometime straight away sometimes he's more shy) today he was very lovely after I hand fed him and gave him the usual dose of crickets, was making me think it's a perfect time for him to come out onto a free range plant. Just curious off what type off plants are good to use and where to get one. Any help would be great :)
