Help with Male Chameleon Veild

Well, just got back from the Vet. No tail amputation needed so far which is good! Dr. says its Vitamin Deficiency so i got a highly recommended from the Dr. and a fellow tech brand. Rep Cal supplements and Calcium and will be moving forward to monitoring and keeping track of his health till he gets better ^^

I didn't make it to the vet that was recommended because no one answered their phones, But i made it to Lake Mary, Great staff and awesome people. Remembered me just by seeing i had my chameleon when i called them a few days ago.

Looks more like a burn or infected bite than vitamin deficiency.

It was caused by the Vitamin Deficiency. He was having trouble shedding because of it.

-Barely eating and or taking a long time to even eat
-When sleeping would loose grip with an appendage
-Trouble shedding * which is what caused the slight tail rott in the first place*
-Slow moving and long time to wakeup
-Poor Color and Weight

But the tail was salvageable because he was still curling it and using it to grip.

She also showed me and told me its ok to help in a case like this, it is ok to help along with shedding and to use Salene sol. on a cotton swab and to very very gently rotate the tip very slowly.

Replaced my ReptoLife Plus vitamin mineral supplement with like i said above RepCal's Suppliments and Calcium dust. Lights have also been changed out to the ones recomended.

Good to see the vet figured out the problem. Poor guy's tail looked pretty bad. Wish him a full recovery.

Did any one read his how to ask for help?

His chameleons are not getting uvb, I am positive that the zoo med blue light does not give off uvb. Oh my bad I read that he is getting new ones soon. What is that blue spot on his male veiled's tail?

The one we got that came with our cage said it had UVB? i think their junk anyway never been a big fan but look what i end up getting into now -,- But yes new lights indeeeedddd ^^

OH! and my new habitat is set up. Through the week stuff will be setup in it so i can work twords moving her in :D i cant wait. Pics to come soon.

The blue dot though *was not a scar or scratch if anyone thinks that dot on the top of the tail is one* At the reptile expo, they would mark Males vs Females with paint dots. Red for female, and Blue for male, White would usually mean Unknown.

well...he was doing good yesterday... I came home today and hes dead laying on the ground..

It was a learning experiance because i see everything from both sides- the Owners and the Technician side. But its a shitty experiance because my g/fs chameleon is now dead, Unknown if it was something i did during start of treatment, Or if it was something that was ignored while she owned him and it was just too late..

my mom told me around lunch he took a turn for the worse and wasnt really moving.. so im assuming it was sometime after i left for work this morning around 6 because he was alive and breathing.. His eyes were sunk in and most of his bones were showing he was so thin, and he was black in splotches and had sunken eyes...

I tried.... now to continue my crappy day...

I am sooo sorry to hear about your little boy :( It's so difficult to loose a cham. .But, you did the best you could by taking him to the vet and caring for him the way you did. You should be really proud about that. It was definitely a tough learning experience for you but I'm sure you'll have great luck with your little female and she can now look forward to a long and healthy life :)
