here is my deiliemma, since the day my panther got here he ate rite away 2 crickets. a couple hours later he ate 6 more. the next mourning he ate 2 crickets and 4 in the afternoon. he stop eating on the third day and had a full body shed. on the fourth day he would not touch a cricket or eat all day. on the fifth day he would not eat again so i went to the local pet shop and bought him some mealworms. as soon as i put them in he ate 4 off the back. but after reading online how they can cause a impaction i stopped feeding him mealworms. These last two days he wont touch any crickets i free range them and put them on a feeding cup. Still no eating but when i put a meal worm he runs rite at it. i ordered micro superworms, small silkies, and butterworms for him that should be here tomorrow mourning. i saw him shoot his tongue at a fruitfly outside the cage today. is he on strike with crickets??? what do i do now just feed him worms???? please help any info or comments to what to do would help!!!! I am trying my hardest to raise this panther in the most correct way possible!!!!

Your cage setup is great! You did your research! IS that a long tube UVB light? Sounds like your little guy wants to make you work at this feeding thing by not eating crickets. I would imagine if you did not feed him for a day or so he would eat crickets again! What are you gutloading the crickets with?

its been about 2 days now with out him eating crickets...:(:(:( i gutload them with carrots, water crystal, and flukers high calcium cricket diet.. yes that is a long uvb bulb rept glo 20". hope he eat wen all his worms come in tomorrow!!!

I would add in some greens and possibly some fruit like mustard greens, collard greens, endive, kale, and maybe an orange or and apple into your gutload mix.

A better dry gutload would benefit him as well. What the bugs eat affect the way they taste.

thanx pssh that makes more sense.... i just hope it works... i want my little fellow to be big and healthy !!!!!!! i am gonnna try circkets again in the mourning if that doesnt work he is gonnaq be on a worm diet i guess!!!:(

Rob, your set up looks good I even dig the grafiti action going on with the walls. The olny cageing suggestion have it to change the glow light to a Repti Sun 5.0 light…
He may be on a strike however he may still just be getting used to his new home, which is totally normal. You seem like you got the right idea though by ordering the silk, super and wax worms, other than that like Pfshhhhhhh said you can get some form of gutload to feed your crickets to change the flavor a little. I vote for Cricket Crack

Your set up does look good :)

When he shed did you notice if he ate any of it?

One of mine did this when he was younger up until about 8 months old and didn't eat for a day or 2 afterwards or if he did eat would become picky.

He will enjoy the worms you have ordered him...variety is good and gutload your crickets and superworms well with what the others have said.

ya i am a sick art pheen and did that in highschool my passion is art and music... i am goin to jump on that asap.. already ordered some as we speak.. also i do have a glo 5.0 sorry i am a newbie to my setup.. but i actually drove all the way to LLLreptile and got all my supplies from them, they gave me all i needed and a cool discount... thanks for the help guys...

no he ate non of his old skin.. i misted him to help out with the shedding.. he ate 4 mealworms later that afternoon... he wants to eat but just not crickets.. my other question is should i dust the worms lightly if i cant dust crickets he wont eat???

Yep....I do, especially the superworms. It seems to stick better, but then again they never last long

Sup doggy its moe

adrian nino:)

nice set up...:d i just got some hornworms for my guys and wow these guys went crazy.

Hold off for like 2 days get his apetite up. Put them in a feeding cup!

What i did and it worked. Dont want to use to many mealworms could cause major impact at that young age!

just a small follow up!!!! recieved some silkies, phoneix, and micro superworms this mourning. he ate one of each rite when i put them in the cage. i guess he is goin on a worm diet now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! still no luck with crickets tho!!

If you really thing the only thing you can feed him are worms, you might wanna research on breeding them rather than just buying a whole bunch.

Have you tried roaches yet? My veiled has recently decided he wont eat anything but roaches and superworms. He LOVES dubia. When he wont hand feed with anything all I have to do is get a roach and he will immediately. Also make sure that the chameleon is getting enough chitin from hard shelled insects. Too little chitin can be just as bad as too much.

Silkies can get expensive.

i am gonna try some dubia soon. but so far he is still refusing crickets and only eating silkies, phoenix worms, and micro supers. i am dusting the worms and gutloading the supers with carrots for now.:D:D about the breeding of insects, it doesnt look like i wouldnt be willing to do that for the fact that i live with my girlfriend too and i am sure she wont like the insect thing, i just got away with get two chams as it is. i figure about 30 bucks with shiiping to get all my feeders for a month( good thing mulberry farm is in cali and shipping is cheap for overnite):D:D thanx guys for the help will be posting pics soon of my two 3 month old chams nosy be and bb ambanja(getting from chuck g this week).:D:D:D:D

Just be careful with too many worms. They can get fattening if they are fed off to much.
