I fed My 1 and a half year old female panther chameleon yesterday and slept over last night when I came back now I see that she has shed most of her body in one night apart from her face.. at the moment parts of shedding are hanging off the side of her face and neck and all of a sudden she swells her neck up really fast and hisses she keeps doing this is there something wrong??? Should I take it off?? There is also some on top of her head... I am only sitting on the couch at the moment I haven't moved about.

Could someone get bk asap .. many thanks

It sounds to me like she has the shedding crabbies. They tend to get quite cranky while shedding. Up her humidity to help her out, or take her for a warm shower on a plant - shoot the spray at the wall so it mists on to her for 15-20 minutes. Do not pull at her skin.

It sounds like a normal shed to me and she might be expanding trying to get the rest of it off. I would mist her really good and make sure she's hydrated. This will help make it easier for her to get the rest of the shed off

Thankyou.. funnily enough she never drinks from the spray bottle I have but for the first time ever before she did so I will keep her hydrated ... when she hisses is this okay or again Is that normal

Thanks

I think she's fine. She is likely hissing because she's cranky and uncomfortable. I'd hiss too I think!

I agree with JaniP. Sounds like she's a crabby, uncomfortable girl right now. My girl gets so, so grumpy just before and during sheds too.The only time she ever hisses is during sheds, even.

In addition to the good advice you've already been given, I would add that, no, you should not try to remove any shedding skin.

The skin beneath has to be ready to come off and pulling on it may injure the new skin.

It is normal for chams to lose their appetite for a day or two before shedding, as well.
