I have a veiled cham. Have had him for about 3-4 months bought him from a pet store an my gf works at. Problem is he will only open his right eye and his left one seems to be glued shut? This just started about 2 days ago he is fat love his crickets which are dusted with calcium with d3 every other week. I have had a jackson cham before so i know a little about them has the correct setup. What happened was he is always out and about when his lights come on. Two days ago he didnt come out i thought maybe he is just being lazy?idk? Yesterday he didnt come out either? I hate forcing them to be handle but i hand to at this point. I got him out and he was as cold as a cube of ice i imediatly set him on top of his cage and put an inferred bulb in to get him warmed up. Let him chill there for a good hour. I noticed he wasnt opening hi one eye so i slowly dripped warm water on it and kinda misted hi down once he was warmed up. After about an hour of dripping water on it every 5 to 10 minutes he finally got it open but it seems to be swollen? So i put him back in his cage to warm up. But he always climbs down to the botttem of his cage to sleep but all day he has only stayed at the top of his cage. So I put his drip on top and this morning he was gulp down water still so i know he can not be dehydrated.

My questions are what can i do for treatment on his eye? Also should i leave his heat light on all night i did last night to make sure he stayed warm. And since my gf works at the pet store the other 2 from his litter have died once didnt look good and the other is haveing new eyed problem and acting weird to. I know this cuz the customers whole bought them told my gf. So is there any kind of genetic disease that would cuase this at a certain age? Or could it just be because its turn winter here?

Anyways please help with and comments and help! Thankyou very much

It could be genetic but I doubt it I would get him to a vet as soon as you can because he may have a parasite. It could also be an eye infection. Has he been eating? I have a little guy who had been closing his eye occasionally and not super active and he ended up having a parasite contracted from his food. Good Luck:D

We need more info on the care to be able to try and help you solve this issue. Typical reasons (not limited to one) for a young chameleon that is under 5 months old to close there eyes are improper humidity, improper lighting, improper temps, infection/illness, improper nutrition...Could be any one of those or may be something else. Fill the questionnaire out and post a pic of the chameleon and set up if you can,.
