have had our female yemen chameleon for approx 6 months, she's approx 9 months she started to shed over two weeks ago and everything seemed to be fine, she shed evrything apart from her feet then a few days later they started to shed too. this is the longest shed she's ever had usually it lasts a day tops but this time was almost a full week. over the past three weeks she has hardly eaten she gotten very thin and where she was almost always a bright green colour is now rather dark with black spots. anyone any idea's as to what could be wrong?

i think she probably needs a laying bin. Get like a little trashcan and put half play sand and half peat moss or something like that and make it moist to where it can hold form when you squeez it and put a stick so she can crawl in and out of it. She may have some infertile eggs that she needs to get out

edit: Also i'd say do whatever brad says :p he is probably the "guru" on yemen :p

The shedding deal is no problem....veileds shed in sections all the time. She could have eggs.......at her age you should have a laying bin in her cage at all times so if and when she gets eggs, she'll have a place to lay. Please answer the how to ask for help questions that Brad gave you and post some pictures......it may very well be something besides/or in addition to having eggs. Jann

sorry am now replying with my husbands profile his automatically signed on didn't realise till after i wrote most of this!! ooopppssss! she is in a glass viv 2 foot width 1 foot depth and 3 foot height with mesh sides and roof calci sand in the bottom a waterfall and two medium umbrella plants and two large sticks crossed across the tank with two uv lights and two halogen bulbs for basking spots. the temp is usually around 23 at night to 29 through the day and humidity is usually around 50-60 the cage is ontop of a unit in the corner of our lounge in a low traffic area. she usually eats locucts which we buy in bags on fifty and that would last a week so approx 5-6 a day we keep the locusts in a tank and feed them on apple and also have found they like cabbage. we handle her usually around once a month sometimes more if cleaning whole tank out. likes to climb the curtains and look out the window!! we used to often see her drinking but only later at night we usually mist every day in the afternoon sometimes more on hotter days. usually fecale matter is a dark brown colour with white part and a yellow speck through it. but have not seen any fecale matter for more than a week.we have never had any other problems until now where she has now not eaten for approx 1 1/2 weeks and has gotten quite thin and changed from a light green to a dark green with black/brown spots?

had her to the vet today so she has to go back tomorrow for an xray will keep you informed!
