One side appears to lack the ability to change color.

Normally when it is a translucent, the affected areas are tails head, legs, and arms.
and the skin is white, almost see through, pinkish colored.
if one side cant change color, then it could be a genetic fail, (ie the color cells didnt develop right)
but if it was part translucent veiled, youd see almost like an albinoism thing going on.
and like i said, the color from a translucent affects the limbs, head and tail, not normally the body, though i have seen one.

I was thinking it was like people who are "almost" albino...they have blue eyes and some pink in their skin, so not albino, but having some of the albino traits including the eye problems. In this case, half the animal is lighter (closer to being white) and lacks the ability to shift color. I'll look around, I seem to remember seeing a picture of an animal that was half and half.

Its possible.
BUt i would think with this one, that its a regular veiled, and any color changing issues are a genetic defect, not from translucent bloodlines.
because the chameleon is green all around, different shades, but green none the less.

It seems to be going away! When I first got him it was normal but then just 3 days ago the problem started, but today it seems to be going away, I think I was stress related due to the high temps, ill keep you guys posted, I have another question, how do you guys feel about free ranging? Im wanting to free range my cham when he gets alittle older

many of us do it.
I do.
I have free ranged my male veiled since he was 8 months old.
hes now 11 months and loving it.
It improved his attitude so much.
Couple rules iwth free ranging..
make sure he cant get down off his plants, but if he doest (they always find a way) make sure he will end up in cham safe places. No dogs, cats, etc who can eat him.
you still need to hang his lights up.
You will also need to cup feed or hand feed him.

What is a good age to free range my veiled chameleon? Right now he is 3 months

technically, you can do it any age really.
personally, i wouldnt do it until hes at least 6 months old.
thsi way, he is bigger and will make it easierto find WHEN he wanders away.

Yea he is a male he has the spurs on his back feet, do u guys have any idea on how often a baby cham will shed?

Lots...babies shed often. I wouldn't be surprised by a shed every month or even every 3 weeks, or even more often. It's all based on how much they grow.

Okay good cuz my veiled just finished shedding like 2 weeks ago nd it seems like he is about to shed again
