Did you move the UVB so she can get alot closer? A 5.0 bulb at 20"s wont give her what she needs even without screen blocking it If you hang it from above she cant get to it.

Yea, she can get within 9 to 10 inches of it. I'll be doing some cage remodeling soon though.

I think you need to fix it so she can get within 5 inches or so, but also have ample places to go that are further away. I don't have a Jackson's. But, I have a Fischer's and they're sort of similar. Mine usually hangs out pretty far from the UVB but every couple of days he's right up there at the top of the cage getting as much as he can.

They seem to be able to self regulate on UVB. It's our job to make the full range of exposure available to them.

Sorry for waiting too long to reply to this, I forgot to check on this thread.

But man, im pissed! My 3 month old ambilobe Specs has been going without UVB since I got him a month ago, if it means that the rays didnt even pass through the plastic cover slip! Why do they even sell them like that if it cant even be used right?!
This is the fixture I have, its hard to tell that theres plastic but its there over the bulb:

I took it off as soon as I read the replies, so he should be all good now. Im still pretty ticked though. Can a month without UVB do much harm...?

The lights have to be outside of the cage so they dont get burned by them.
chams have a fun litle habit of ALWAYS climbing into places they shouldnt be.

i agree, not inside the cage.. she can climb up there and get badly burnt
