Hemipenes Plug?

Yesterday, one of my chams, Willy, everted his hemipenes and retracted them, thankfully, so there was no prolapse. This was preceded by what I thought was a large double hemipenes shed but he retracted that as well! Could it be a hemipenes plug that needs to be removed? Something else?
I assumed he would clean the much larger than usual shed/plug on the branch but I was very surprised and concerned when he retracted it. He often excretes hemipenes sheds but they are very thin and sticky and dry out quickly. This, however was 2 distinct thick substances. From what I understand there is a difference between a hemipenes shed and a hemipenes plug. I have noticed over the past couple of weeks that his body position looked like he was uncomfortable. I’ve seen the video on how to remove a hemipenes plug but I’m not really comfortable with that because it’s a little too intrusive for me. I’m waiting for a call back from my vet but would appreciate feedback before I proceed. Thanks!

That does look like a plug. If he isn’t able to remove it on his own, he will need help. It is a good idea for a vet to check if you’re not comfortable doing that.

If you are seeing thin sheds of the hemipenes this indicates proper regular shedding. Hydration plays a big role for males in proper shedding of the hemipenes. I personally would not try to do anything yourself. Keep an eye on it. Make sure you have a dripper going during the day.

Per the image... normally when they are actually plugged they are almost discolored an off yellow. Also they are harder. These look very fluid and soft. I am by no means a breeder. But I wonder if he did not get a little over excited flexing them and could that be semen. I totally could be wrong here but I have never seen plugs look anything like this.
