Why would you put your chameleon in a place where it can shoot water out of a bowl of water, where another animal lives?
Ya not sure how good fish poop is for chams but I dont think its good.
And can you post a bigger pic of your chameleon here? The one in the profile pic.... it looks really dark on it's side there. Is the chameleon bruised or burnt?
He's not bruised or burnt
The water would be full of urine and poo from the fish. Not exactly good for a chameleon, at all....
Saw the OP's other post where they said the water was fresh because they cleaned it the day before..... Still.... that water will have fish urine and fish slime in it. Not good for a chameleon.
Not saying it was..... just looks to be a very very dark coloring on the side of the cham in your profile pic. Never seen a natural marking quite that dark on a Veiled that I can ever recall...
Guys, I think you're being a little obnoxious on the water from the fish tank causing any real harm to the chameleon
the fish defecates in it. there is no uv light in that water or other means to kill bacteria so the lizard is drinking fish defecated water, does it make sense now?I doubt the bacteria levels, unless the aquarium was ill tended, would really be a relevant concern. The same bacteria are in the air and on the plants, in the chameleons cage, he drinks water from. Bacteria are EVERYWHERE and the bacteria posed by a goldfish aquarium, minimally stocked, and without a speck of algae or bacterial film, is of no consequence, really.
but his is non of those animals. what makes you think that curled his tail is an expression of love? what does it make you think that letting it wonder around on the floor or anywhere else where it can fall off or have a lamp fall on him burn himself or scape is in any sense good to him? Thanks man. The video was meant to be funny. I feel like most of the people that replied worry way too much. He is obviously healthy and enjoying himself. I've had iguanas, geckos, anoles, turtles, and a 72g bow front saltwater reef tank with all kinds of corals, exotic fish, and inverts. The reef tank was way more high maintenance than Herbert will ever be.
I appreciate their concerns but feel like they are unwarranted at this point. I will continue to use my drip plant that he has used since I got him, let him out of his cage and go on the goldfish bowl, and let him explore his territory (the living room). Here is another one of his favorite spots. He'll sit here for over an hour which is when I normally take him back to warm up. See the curled tail? He obviously loves it. I won't be surprised if people tell me that this is bad for his health and he'll get ran over by the car.
