Lenny shares the room with two terrariums of williamsi geckos, but room is cham proof.

Well my grand plan may not be working - Lenny seems to want to live up in the framework. That provides no uvb, no heat, and no water. This might be a expensive failure.

Laurie I have free ranged for years and my guys only stay under their lights a few hours a day. They go to the UV when they need UV and they go to the basking light when they want to bask. Probably 60% of the time they are doing things away from the lights. As Jessica said he'll go to his lights when he needs it.

Thanks Jann, I am a new Mommy to the free range. Don't be too suprised when you get a couple of panicked calls from me.

Would I be better off giving him a dripper of going ahead with the mistking? The dripped will run longer than the mistking, but the mistking should put more water over a larger area. I sure hope I don't have to do both - I will have a drowned room.

looking great laurie, he wil pick up some uv and heat from the sun throught the screen as well i would think. im sure he is loving it..

Suggestion

Hey why don't you consider cutting down the sides a little bit and mounting the light directly to the ceiling. That way he can still climb on the top framing and still be under the lighting and you won't have to waste the time and money you put into that cage.

Hey why don't you consider cutting down the sides a little bit and mounting the light directly to the ceiling. That way he can still climb on the top framing and still be under the lighting and you won't have to waste the time and money you put into that cage.

Thanks for the thought, I tried that idea but it won't work, because my husband, the nut, does not want to put holes in the ceilings. He would rather spent a mint on the stuff for the frame work, than patch a couple small holes. Go figure. He likes to build stuff, that is all I can say.

My melleri did the same thing at first - got above the lights. I think they were nervous and wanted to be up high. They came down and now rarely go up that high. They spend mornings basking and under the lights. Jann is right - they will spend a lot of time not under the lights ... they seem to know what they need.

Also I put food under the lights so they go to those spots.

Thanks, I will finally relax when I am sure of him getting correct light, food & water. I am trying to be patient for it is not in my nature. Today I fed him 2 dubia with tongs just to be sure he is eating.
