Here's another mystery panther

This guy looks a bit like Jake's Uncle Sam. He is being offered as an Ambanja, and I am wondering what the general consensus would be? Morph cross, or Ambanja?

Hybrid, in my opinion. Hybrids containing Nosy Be blood tend to have very solid pastel-like blues without any bordering.

Again as I stated in previous "identifying locale" threads, my opinion is just that, an opinion from a person who has never set foot in Madagascar. Ther is a stunning amount of variety that can come from Madagascar, and likely especially in between bordering areas without significant geographical divisions. However based on confirmed hybrids I would say that this is very similar to ones I have seen, and show similar traits.

Nosy Be occured to me, too. He's 10 months old, or so the owner says. I haven't seen it in person yet. I think sometimes perhaps it's easier to tell the approximate age when actually holding the animal. He's cute, whatever he is. Thank you for your input, Will. I'm afraid things are heating up a bit on the thread of the other panther I posted earlier today.

I agree with Will. Its a hybrid.
I rememeber the guy that posted those pictures on kingsnake. He was selling them as the wrong locale. This one does look like a Nosy Be X Sambava Hybrid.

I wouldn't pin it to any certain locale other than Nosy Be. It could be a northern or eastern locale that would likely produce very similar hybrids with Nosy Bes. I do think that there is an element of randomness in hybrids though, so it is very possible to throw oneself off.

To me the baring says Nosy Be. One might suggest Ambanja, but from what I have seen in hybrids with Ambanja they usually have more significant changes than just blue/green baring added. They tend to lend a lot of colouring to the face and chest too. As I said, if it is indeed a hybrid, it could be from the far north (Antsirinana) or from several locations along the East coast.

/theory.

I agree completely with the others... If I had to guess, I'd say Nosy Be crossed with almost anything. The orange could have come from one of several locales, and a Nosy crossed with almost any other locale (with any orange, yellow or red) can look similar to this. The blue is too light (and no borders, like Will said) to be anything but Nosy Be origin.
