I agree. it is too bare in the middle.

unless its a catcher for a dripper, remove the water dish as it only spawns bacteria and they dont drink still water and the substrate can cause impaction and just makes it harder to clean so it is unnecessary and can be a helath risk but otherwise your cage looks good, i like your vines

I have the dish there for when I feed worms and the substrate makes it look better. Lol if not substrate what should I use to cover the ugly white bottom?

try reptile carpet, the green kind can look nice, they sell it at most pet stores.

Ooopppssss!!!! The first didnt show up... And I will check it out. What about the dropper dripping on it and misting? It won't mold or anything

I use paper towel as my substrate. Easy to clean, and when the dripper drips on the leaves down to the bottom and misses the catching jar...it's easy to change the towel!

Also no risk of the chameleon accidentally eating some of the substrate while hunting for food (this is typically the reason people don't use substrate - they'll use reptile carpet or paper towel instead).

I've used substrate before - it's a HUGE pain to clean! I love my paper towel.

Well just put a cup with a screen or something over(to keep the cham out for saftey reasons) where the dripper falls i doubt it would mold but most people use papertowels but that may not be very attractive so ask someone at the pet atore if it would mold because ive never used but i know a lot of people who do, i can ask my friend later ill see what she has to say.

I've never had paper towels mold, but I change mine very often. I'm sure they could mold if left unattended for awhile.

I have seen the carpet mold before. I'm not sure how long that specific carpet was in with the crested gecko that I saw, but it was moldy due to too much water and a high humidity.

If I used carpet I'd probably have two of them -- swap them out every couple-few days or so, clean them. That's about what I do with the towel. Or more frequently, 'cause I'm crazy and there is an abundance of paper towel in my home at all times
