Common signs are casque with bulging sides, "chubby" legs, a very thick tail base. Also, obesity can cause the eyes to bulge unnaturally. In some species a smooth layer of fat seems to form across the rib cage just below the dorsal crest.

thanks guys :)

Hes about two years old CB... im not sure how much he weighs i dont have a gram scale at my house... from jaw to top of his casque hes about 3 1/2 inches? mayeb 4 1/2....
i was just wondering because its fairly easy to see when tehy arent doing well, but i couldnt seem to find much information about when they were doing TOO well... We feed him probably a dozen or so crickets every other day, and i havnt noticed thivk legs or tail, and he doesnt seem to have any layer of fat over his ribs, when he puffs up they are quite visable actually! More for gathering information than anythign else, thanks a bunch :)

I always understand things better from pictures LOL. Does anyone have a picture of an overweight cham?

DEFF thats always teh best! If anyone had a pic that would be super helpful... i dont have an oz scale either; just a human one and i dont think hes big enough to register on that...

i know this thread is old as.... but i'd really like to know how to recognize an obese cham, so it would be useful if somebody could post some pictures of very fat chams (especially veileds). i only found pics of females with eggs...but it's not the same! (or is it? I dunno!:p)
