It certainly isn't obvious but I believe it is indeed a male. If you could get some more pictures of him walking on a stick or something with his tail straight out that would help.
You will have to give him some more time. The first picture almost looks female now but it is really hard to tell. I would give him another few weeks and it should be much easier to tell.
