Hi I'm planning to have a chameleon for the first time.

I want to know what species is the best for petting, easy to tame, and friendliest?
Cristoffer,

Welcome to the site. You will find an endless amount of information on all species of chameleons. In regard to your questions; you might do a little more research into chams. From your inquiry, I'd match you with a bearded dragon.

Please tell us what you've been thinking about in the way of a cham, and we can try to point you in the right direction. For what it's worth, most chams can tolerate us (humans) to a certain degree, but from my experience, chams in general (not all) are a fickle bunch of self-centered narcissists.

I would say the best beginners Chameleon is the

Veiled chameleon. I have one. he hates to be held, freaks if I touch him, hisses at me whenever my hand goes in the cage, and Ive been working on taming him for about a month, and its probably going to last another 3 before he tolerates my existance. I would sudgest you try a leapord gecko...and then check back with us in a year or so...or do a LOT of research. I spent a good three years on and off obsesivly researching before I finally got one! But even though hes not a fan, my cham is extremley speacial to me!

Dont mind my spelling...not used to mobile... :D

Chams are more like something you buy to look at and slowly gain their trust. Never force them to come out. Offer them a choice and if they refuse you have to let them be. Stress can sicken them. They look at us like we are technically predators. I must say though, me and my husband have built a healthy bond with our cham. It eats off our hands and hunts crickets on its own. And chooses to come out when we offer our hand.

Panthers are the most tame out of all chams in general. It's all about how much trust your cham has with you. A hand that feeds, is a hand it needs. (y)
