as far as im aware there not used for any thing?i could be wrong tho.

they are just part of being a Cham. As far as I know They do not serve any real purpose, possible other than to make him look more threating in a defensive posture.

Cheers mate, i appreciate it, i'm only 15 years old so i want to learn as much as possible about them
Don't wory, i have kept reps since i was 10, kept Beardies(Who Hasn't) Leo's, Water Dragons(Chinese) Tegu's and boscs, so have experience in a wide range of lizard, also kept Corns, and Boas(bci)

Cheers again for the advice,John

Thats awesome to get started so young. If I was aware of Chams I would have started a lot earlier. You will love them . Keep coming back here and ask any questions you have.

When you first get him let him settle in for a couple of weeks with minimal handling. Then you can start to take him out for a little while every couple of days or when you need to clean. You will start to learn what the little guy will allow. He will get more comfortable as time goes on and he figures out your the big creature that bring water and bugs.

Chameleons really are not known to be animals that like to be held. Some will tolerate it some will hate it , and some will seem to love it.

Even if they love you when they are young , when they become an adult he may not be so nice.

Hey Macro Junkie, 2 large locusts for a 5 month old doesn't sound so bad to me. What did he used to eat?

how much does he weigh?

i think im going to buy some digital scales tomorrow..il let u know what he weights tomorrow..he use to eat about 7 medium sized locust on a good day and some flies..hes defiantly not feeding as much in the last 2 days//im worried..il weight him tomorrow ok and let u know the results.

Hehe, cheers mate, very helpful :D
Also, i have heard males tend to be more agressive than females, or can be more agressive, is this true?
I plan on breeding mine also, what age should he be before he is bred? Guessing the age is differnt with females? as it is with most Lizards

They should both be around 9-12 months old but it can be done earlier 6-7 months. The younger age could shorten the life of the female. Males can be more aggressive but there are some meany girls out there. It can go either way.
