Cage Info:

* Cage Type - Exo-Terra Glass Terrarium Reptile Habitat 12"W x 12"D x 18"H (30 x 30 x 45 cm)
* Lighting - 100Watt UVB light 12 hours a day.
* Temperature - Temp is 70-80 normally. 90's basking. 50-70's at night.
* Humidity - Not Positive. Consistent Misting and UVB light should be providing him with enough Humidity with my cage.
* Plants - No Live ones.
* Location - Next to my bed. There is not too much movement. I sleep next to him.

Chameleon Info:

* Your Chameleon - Veiled, Sex: not known, 7-9 months.
* Feeding - 6 Crickets a day, 2 in morning(6am), 2 after school(3pm), 2 at 6PM (NOW I'm hand feeding him superworms because he wont go to the bottom to get the crickets)
* Supplements - Nothing
* Watering - Misting 3-4 times a day. He does drink.
* Fecal Description - Simple brown I believe white as well.
* History - None that I know of. Bought from a pet store.
* Current Problem - His front left leg has a bump on his elbow. Like it's broken or something. He has trouble moving but can move. He doesn't move unless he feels he needs to. It shakes alot. He avoids using it but can.

EDIT: I WILL UPDATE THIS WHEN I'M HOME! (At school)

NO SUPPLEMENTS? WHY?
Ok-what is a 100 Watt UVB?
Sounds like this could be a perfect case of MBD.

To continue-he should be in a screen cage, he should have live plants, you should know your humidity, you should know what sex it is as females can lay eggs as young as 5 months without being bred, why are the crickets in the bottom and are you gutloading them?
Please read this site: http://raisingkittytheveiledchameleon.blogspot.com/
I am not trying to be mean but there are alot of things wrong here.

I'd ditch the 100W murcury vapor bulb, get a reptisun bulb (not a compact one), and (most importantly) get some REP-CAL wiht D3 in him! Dust the crickets with that a little every other day for a few weeks until his bones harden.

Sounds like your cham has MBD. With 0 supplementation whatsoever, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised. Please start reading the links provided to you - http://raisingkittytheveiledchameleon.blogspot.com/

Not to come down on you or anything, but from what you have listed, you are doing just about everything wrong, your husbandry practices need a 100% overhaul.

The first place i would start is getting him/her out of the glass enclosure and into a screened one. For a 9 month old, he should be ready for a larger cage anyways. If you would like to order online, LLL reptile has good deals on screened enclosures.

You need to take him to a vet to check out the arm to and confirm/deny that it is MBD, and provide us with pictures of your setup and cham.

Well the thing is.. My dad out of no where purchased him for me.
So I have had nothing to start him off with.

I've been doing my best to give him a nice home.
He seems to be okay with the cage for now.
I planned on upgrading to a larger one anyway.

I just want him to be health and haven't been able to provide I am going to look for someone who will hopefully rescue him.

What do you think of this package for him?

That package would be a great start. Make sure to get some live plants as well. Typically the most popular ones (for good reason) are Ficus benjamina, Hibiscus, and Schefflera arboricola.

Have you visited the blog link we have posted for you? Absolutely a necessity for you to study that site for the next few weeks.

We all started some where-and thankfully ended up here. The link is for a Reptarium, right? You might like the screen cages better. If you go to my website posted in my signature here, I have a cart from LLLReptile that has everything you need in it-since you probably have some stuff, you won't need it all, but I would order the supplements I have listed and the UVB light first.

bunch of questions

hi guys recently bought this ficsher female and i need to know some questions im scared and worried for this little girl. i think for starters i may have cought her toes in the cage door and took the end of her back left foot off.. i need to know how this will effect her

id also like it if someone could tell me about the heat lamp/ glowlight iv had the heat lamp on but no glow light for about 4 days since i bought her.

any other information that someone feels like giving anything please.. im so clueless and lost right now by the way shes gorgous an her name is stella :) thanks much guys. ill keep posted

Is she injured bad enough that you may need to see a vet? She may get infected if the skin is torn. These uys go downhill fast soyou don't want to wait. Answer these questions for us using brand names and pictures if possible. Fischers chameleons like it a bit cooler than Veileds and Panthers for starters...

Hows it coming along?

So hows the progress with the OP? Have you been able to read up on the husbandry website given? Have you made any plans?

Coyote4522...first I would be addressing the possibility of your chameleon having MBD. If it does and you don't act ASAP to correct the cause and correct the MBD you may not have to worry about whatever else is not right in your setup...you may lose your chameleon. A vet can tell you if your chameleon has MBD.

Lighting - 100Watt UVB light 12 hours a day....if this is a compact bulb I recommend you change it for a linear/tube UVB light like the Repti-sun 5.0 since the compacts have been known to cause eye problems. Exposure to UVB allows the chameleon to produce D3 which allows it to use the calcium in its diet. The UVB should not pass through glass or plastic.

Veiled, Sex: not known, 7-9 months...look for a tarsal spur. If there is none then its female. If its female you should be providing a place for it to lay eggs.
http://www.adcham.com/html/husbandry/glossary/tarsalspur.html

Supplements - most feeder insects we use have a poor ratio of calcium to phosphorous so dusting insects with a phosphorous-free calcium powder before feeing them to your chameleon helps to make up for this.

Gutloading and feeding the insects a nutritious diet is important too.

If your chameleon gets no direct sunlight then you may also want to dust twice a month with a phos.-free calcium/D3 powder. D3 from supplements can build up in the system so just dust lightly.

A vitamin powder can be used twice a month. If you use one with a beta carotene source of vitamin A you won't have to worry about overdosing it. Beta carotene won't build up in the system. There is controversy as to whether all chameleons can convert beta carotene so some people give a small dose of preformed once in a while. Preformed vitamin A can build up in the system...excess vitamin A can prevent the D3 from doing its job and lead to MBD.

Calcium, D3, phos., and vitamin A are all players in bone health and need to be in balance.
