hissing puffing noise

so this morning my 4/5 month old baby panther randomly started puffing his chin out. It was a loud hiss , i wasnt around his cage it was a loud enough hiss/puff where i could hear it across the room. all of his lights on that side of the room were off, i only had my closet light on so it wouldnt wake them/bother them(but he woke up) or my iguana. Long story short , why did he make this noise , if i was no where near his cage?

is he getting moody because purberty is around the corner?

nope , she sleeps outside of the cage sometimes , which last night she did and she was under my dresser - outside of his view. i walked over to see which cham it was, he was looking at me , but he never made the noise before. he is healthy as can be . & never nasty at all, however i wasnt even around him when he was making the noise. maybe i pissed him off by waking him when i turned the light on ?

That's a definite possibility. They can be boogers at that age. As long as their are no direct line of sights to anything or anyone....or reflections, then it is probably just him being cranky. The only other thing I could think of is if he had a roaming feeder in his cage that could have got on him. Crickets are notorious biters..so it could have been defensive in that case.

hmmm okay thanks . thats what i thought , he should be turning into a "man" if my timeline is correct so maybe thats why too . he doesn't react to my iguana eowynn anyway regardless cause she is always out and he is so much higher, he has adapted to her wondering and can care less about her haha. Okay good , cause when my other Chameleon was a baby never made that noise ! I got nervous but i just think he is being a crab
