Has anyone ever noticed their chameleon holding on to his own legs and not letting go? I noticed this just recently. Kobie is about six month old Ambanja Panther and I hold him about 4 days a week for just about 5 minutes at a time. I have noticed him on several occasions that when stressed or startled as I am holding him that his back leg will grab hold of what he thinks is a branch and it is in fact his front leg. He will not let go. Not sure if this is normal. It's like he doesnt know he is grabbing his own hand and cant let go.

my first cham i had was a veiled cham that had some serious mbd. and he always did it. even in his enclosure when trying to climb a branch, it would fall because it grabbed its own leg. couple days after i bought him he died, and you bet i went to go ask for my money back! and i got it;) but not with out a fight from the pet stores owner. sucka!

It can be a sign of MBD...but it could be caused by something else too. A vet should be able to tell you what's going on.

Can you post a picture??
