Home-made cages

If you're talking about screen cages, I don't think that they're worth building to save money. The only time I've found it worthwhile is if you want a custom size. It costs only slightly more to purchase the premade kits than to assemble one of the same size from scratch.

If you're talking about a wooden cage then I'd say you could save a bunch! Look around and find a design that you like.......and kinda wing it from there.

That's what I did.

I built my base/cabinet by looking at aquarium stands at the local fish shop. Then I made the removable bottom cage to fit on it. The canopy was then put together with the leftover scrap from the base and the cage.

Just think it through and you'll be alright.

i build custom cages for various types of reptiles, mostly green iguanas. i built two cham enclosures and am making DIY plans for them currently. one is for juvies, 20" round 36" tall, and one for adults 24"x36"x48". the adult one has drainage, the juvie one doesnt currently but i am working on designing one that does. i should have the plans ready to post by this weekend.
