homemade cage

Now that the weather is nice I plan on making a big outside cage(technically a cage) and an indoor screen cage in preperation for hopefully a jacksons. Now I was wonderiong if I could get some type of screen/ fence with small gaps and stand it up so its in a circle then put some particle board under as the floor then put some finer screen as the top for an outdoor enclosure, would that work?

Lol sorry, I completely forgot to mention my idea for the indoor cage. I was gunna get 2x4's or whichever widths look best for support then stain them ect.. Then build a 3'wx3'Lx4'h frame. Would it work if I sanded the wood really good so it was very very smooth and just staple the screen on the outter sides of the frame with a staple gun? And I was going to use.a more heavy duty screen for the top to be able to hold the light fixtures. Sound good?

sounds like it could work. if you are putting this outside, then you don't need light fixtures for the top - right? Unless you are trying to add heat. Search the forum for other tips on building outdoor enclosures - but you will need to make sure that it is anchored down and can't blow over and you might need to make sure that it is animal proof - cat, dog, raccoon? Depends on where you live. If you've got the space - do it.

For the one I was talkinbg about putting fence type stuff, I was going to stake the fence down and cut out something like particle board for the bottom and just but regular screen as the top for an outdoor cage. The secont post I did on this thread was an idea for an indoor enclosure. And I live on a farm in iowa sooo there will be possums, raccoons, farmcats ect. Possums and raccoons I kill if they are gunna be fuckin around by the cage and the cats won't bother the cham. And the specifications for the outdoor cage I was thinking roughly 6 feet tall and maybe 4 or 5 foot diameter

And about making the frame with 2x4s and putting heavy duty screening on the top for the light fixtures is going to be an inside cage. Sorry I shoulda been more specific on what I was trying to say lol

I recently posted about building an outdoor enclosure as well. (waiting for my brother to build it for me next week) I have decided to use screen, with galvanized wire over that, and raised off the ground. Someone posted that they had lost all there bearded dragons because they ate fireflies ( highly toxic, killed the dragons before they could even swallow!) so make sure there is no way for them to get in. He also said that raccoons ripped the wire open to get the food inside, but that stopped once he put the cages on tables. You also have to watch for hawks. Just some things to consider before building. Good luck with your cage, I am excited about mine!

Thanx I completely fogot about fireflies! And ill just kind try a buncha stuff and tweak the cages till they seem good enough
