Homemade Chameleon enclosure. What you think?

More plants (fake/real) to give cham a sense of security wherever they are in their enclosure ;)

Otherwise, looking good!!

definitely agree with more plants! Higher up in the cage. Looks very nice and a nice size. What are you using for lighting? I noticed a red light? What would that be used for?

do they have to be real plants? will plastic plants work too? i just bought 2 new cages for my new jacksons but i did not buy any real plants i bought fake plastic plants and some long driftwood logs at a pet store. Is it ok if i only use fake plants for reptiles? are real plants really necessary?

Ya the one thing i want to add some more of is a large live plant that goes over everything up top somewhat. I just haven't gotten around to it.

Those ropes hanging are from a basketball back pack type of thing. They are a perfect fit for his feet. As soon as I put them in he climbed all over them.

real plants help maintain the humidity. You have to be careful which ones you choose as the veilds tend to eat plants more so that some of the other chameleons. Fake is ok, you just have to make sure you chameleon is not going to try and eat them. Are you using a regular white bulb for basking??? What is the red light for?. Red lights should not really be used

Ya I have a white basking bulb. The red one I just use at night. It is an infared light I think. I just use it to keep the cage a little warmer at night since my house gets cold at night.

how cold are we talking here? You are better off with a ceramic heater, but it may not even be necessary depending on your house temps. You really don't want to have any lights on at night.

Well my house gets into the 60's at night sometimes. The red light has a dimmer on it so I dim it down pretty low. The place where he sleeps is under leaves and stuff. So I don't think he even can see the light

I would use a heat emmitter. it all looks really nice. one you put a few more plants in there he is going to love it. as long as he doesnt eat them you can put thm in there. but all of my veiled eat their plants so I would try to avoid them.

ya he takes a bite out of a plant every great once in a while, and of course he loves to get water off of the live plants
