She's our first chameleon and I've wanted one since I was a teenager. My husband finally got me one for my birthday. Her enclosure was custom made by him. Both of us are constantly doing research on how to care for her. We do love her very much, she's a very tiny member of the family. My father always took care of his reptiles like they were children, so I learned a lot from him. She is very happyMakes me happy to hear another reptile lover that is committed enough to spend that kind of moneyyou must really love her, and Im sure she's very happy!

Today we learned that miss Calvin LOVES horn worms. Even if they are expensive as all hell. Spent 21 dollars for 26 worms
OMG! Those hornworms must be made of gold! Go here. It's $8 for 25 smalls. Feed them off judiciously (one/ two a day) and they will last you a couple of weeks.

after that, I got a few more of those, along with a collection of frogs, toads, and a few geckos. When I was about 14, my dad gotme a dog, so the smaller reptiles were given away since the puppy needed my attention. I recently got back into it when I saw my friend walking around campus with her beardie and it made me think of how much I missed my reptiles. Chameleons are by far the best I've ever owned!!!

My parents have had fire belly toads, pacman frogs, albino clawed frogs, a newt and a salamander. Calvin is very spoiled and we've only had her three weeks. I actually started my dad on reptiles by getting the fire belly toads when I was about 12 or so.That's great! Thank you!! I will definitely look into that the next time we buy them. She had two today, and didn't even touch her crickets. I put the crickets in at around 7am, and when I got home at 2:15 all of them were still in there. I think I put 6 or 7. So she ate a couple horn worms after my husband and I went to the reptile store.

Fire bellies! I remember those guys, and I also remember them being real escape artists! Always seemed to get out somehow, no matter the tank :/

We had 4 of them before we finally gave up and decided not to buy more.. There was one who was always okay so we assumed it was being mean to the others.

Never mind, not worth it then. I'll pay the extra few bucks here and there for convenience of having them then and there instead of worrying about them in the mail.
That's what I do!!! My local reptile store sells the same thing for $15.00 per cup, but if you don't use that many then the convenience is definitely worth it. For the quantity I use it's still cheaper than getting them through the mail and I don't have the hassle. You can also see exactly what size you're getting - they don't always let you choose when it's mail order. Only bad thing is that means I have to stop by the reptile store and there are always a lot of other temptations there!!!

Hornworms can get pretty expensive quickly, but as long as you aren't feeding them exclusively DBD on Amazon has really good deals, and Josh's frogs does as well. They both have free shipping if you watch for sales.
Just pay close attention because a lot of times the free shipping is a slow shipping speed. Also often times the shipping is simply added to the price of the worms and then they claim free shipping. If someone offers them for $8.00 per cup with no minimum order and then includes free next day or even 2nd day shipping, that would be nice!!! Otherwise I will support my local reptile store!

Hah, yeah I feel ya. I visit my local pet store almost every day now for the last year or so. It's walking distance down the street so I can't help but run around and grab things the second they pop into my mind. I also like being able to hand select the worms Im given, and see that they are in good health. My chams are all spoiled brats, especially my latest addition since he's a little baby

That's great - they are an exception! How does one go about buying from this person? Do they have a website?! Do they sell silkworms?!!! That's one thing I can't find locally! I will still probably buy hornworms locally since one cup lasts me about 3 weeks but I'd like to know a good source for reasonably priced silkworms! Is that 2 day or 2 to 3 day priority? Usually priority is 2 to 3 days, which I probably wouldn't risk.
