Rottsko, do you prefer roaches to crickets? I just have this awful fear of roaches getting out as opposed to crickets and being terrified.

Camimom. That's awesome! I really would love a baby veiled. They're so cute, but I would much rather wait than ever get something from a pet store. I'm in Vermont and I go to the NH Reptile Show in Manchester. The next one is april 1, so I'm hoping to have enough saved up to get one. What kind do you suggest? There are soooo many!

Well it depends on the pet store. my male came from a small store, but htey knew what they were doing.. hes a year old and nice and big. great coloring.

id get a turquiose one.. they should sell as a turquiose veiled... but its up to you..

personally at shows you cant alway see the parents.. so you dont know waht they are like, ntm some people at shows dont house their chams properly.

if you dont get one, and you want to wait till my guys are hatched.. i can put you on the list..
 
Hahaha. I love turquoise so that sounds super! But........don't they need to incubate for 6 months or so?

yes. it takes about 30 days for females to lay. then 7-9 months to hatch.. nrom is around 7.5-8.
but they are worth waiting for.

That's not bad at all! I looked at your pics and they are so pretty! I just don't know if I can wait until October...hahaha. Maybe by then I would be ready for a third. ahahha

It took me about a year from start to finish because I had to brumate them for a few months. Then I had to bring them back up to temp. Then the mating, which was kind of hilarious to witness. Then a month later I had 25 gorgeous corn snake eggs. Then into the Hovabator for 3 months. The most grueling part was the last week when I knew they were coming. I'd come home from school and just do homework in front of the incubator in homes that they would hatch in front of me. Of course, half of them hatched while I was asleep one night. But it is SO rewarding.
 
Yea its going to be about a year for this veiled breeding project too.

im hoping that they dont hatch while im at work or in school, but with my luck ill miss them all!
 
That's how it always goes. I just think it's funny that I decided to get a more difficult chameleon. lol. It was a circumstance I couldn't pass up and I was really happy to get her. She just does not like much. I'm hoping over the next few months she calms down so I can hold her a bit, but as of right now it looks like she isn't going to have any of it. Do you hold your veileds much?

I hold my male a fwe times aweek.
he has mood swings, some days he tolerates me, some days he hates me.
some days he only hates being taken off his plant, then hes fine.

my female.. well i just got her yesterday.. so havent had a chance to really hold her or scope out her personality yet. :p
