Make sure that their isn't moisture in whatever you keep them in. If there's too much moisture it will kill them. Yes they can climb when they are little, but not so much once they get a bit larger. While they're babies you will want to keep them around 80 because they're more temp sensitive. After they get around 3/4" or so you can keep them in the low 70s for them to grow slower, and in the low 80s for them to grow faster. If you keep them constantly at 80 or so they will be full grown within 2 weeks and maybe a few days!I have food.
Can they crawl glass.?
I've used the 16 oz deli cups too, and I do agree that they work great. But have you ever tried them with your silkworm raising bin? I seen that thread a while back and I plan on using it with some hornworms soon. And I'm currently using it with some silks, so thanks for posting thatGet some deli cups (16 oz) with vented lids with the black grid stapled to the bottom. Put either silk chow or horn chow in the bottom of the cup ontop of the staple holding the grid to the cup. put the eggs on the upside down lid and turn the cup upside down ontop of the lid. Leave it that way until they hatch and climb the grid to get to the food.
I have never had any issues with a little moisture and hornworms. Silkworms yes. Silks die if you look at them funny but I had zero dieoff my last batch of horns and I must have hatched out 500 hornworms to feed off and gave away 2000 eggs. The deli cup method I describe works like a charm. JMO
