Hornworm feeding (how many & how often?)

Just wondering how many and how often can these be fed to your Chams. I just got a shipment from Mulberry Farms and in about 5 days they have basically doubled in size. They may get too big for Darwin before I get to feed them all off to him.

Currently I have been giving him one every other day... he really loves them and chows down as soon as I place one in his cage. Thanks

Oh yeah, Darwin is a 3 mo old Panther.

Since Darwin is only 3 months old I would only feed him small hornworms and maybe 3 a day. Those worms have such a grip I've had one get stuck in the back of one of the females throat and she had to have assistance getting it down and it was not a large one either. I only feed the large ones to my parsonii.

ill agree, he is only 3 months old, when my cham was that age i just gave her 1 or 2 a day, sometimes i didn't even give her any!! :D lol.

I only offer these as a treat, since they have a pretty high fat content. When I have them its usually 1 on Monday and 1 on Friday.

Thanks everyone. So far they are less than an inch long, but were about 1/2" when I got them last week. Only bought 25 of them as a test to see if he would like them... guess the answer is YES!

I will keep to just giving him 1 every couple of days. If they start to out grown him I'll offer them up to members here who would like them for their larger Chams

Put them in the fridge for 2 days- slows them down on eating and growing- take them out for a day then repeat as needed. Doing this I can keep 50 for 2 weeks at about 1.5-2 inches. I leave a few in another container to get those only large. Good Luck:)
