I just ordered some hornworms and many were way too big for my cham and since I just got my new cham he hasn't really settled in enough to eat it seems. Anyways I've read that when they get to the bottom of the cup and are wrestles that means they will turn into moths, if this is true can I just place them in my chameleon change to do so or do I need to put them somewhere else to do so then to try and feed them to him?? He was hatched 4/17/14 so about 6 months old. What do I do with these Goliath horn worms??

well those goliath worms turn into goliath moths so moths are no good but you can attempt breeding them. they are messy though. im actually in my first attempt and have had 3 moths emerge within past 2 days but im feeling they're wings havent developed properly have only seen one actually fly. anyways i keep them in a a glass tank i had laying around starting to think if its too small. piglett79 (forget what the numbers are) has great rearing and breeding advice on feeders

yah my roommates will not let me breed anything in the house and its starting to get to cold outside to try that. Wonder what I should do with them since i cant feed them to my boy at these sizes haha

you can let the worms turn to moths but can have the moths mate and lay eggs hmm okay... the cocoons can be stored over winter lol. doesnt seem like theres many other options, but now you have learned your lesson buy small horns they grow stupid fast lol

For a reptile that is small I normally will be eggs of hornworms and let them grow that way. Yes they grow way to fast. When they get to big to feed I just throw them out which by that I mean kill them. I do a lot of gardening and don't want them on my tomato plants.
