Hey Forum Family,
I just got some Hornworms in the mail today and I have some questions.
First question, How do I care for these worms ? Second, What is that biege stuff at the bottom of the cup? Third, what do I feed them and how and where can I store the worms? Fourth, When I got the cup there were some little round balls, what are they?

the tan stuff should be food, just leave them in the cup till all the tan stuff is gone, then you need to buy food, and the balls should be poop :) (had a hornworm lab in highschool)

okay the worms need constant cleaning i clean mines like 2-3 time a DAY the stuff in the cup is there food keep the worms in a containter with some what ventalation and the little round balls are problaly there poop

I keep them tipped a little so air can get into the cup from the vents on the lid-they should be climbing up to get to the food and the poop drops below them onto the lid. They grow pretty fast you can slow their growth by keeping them in cool spot.

I have had them grow 4 inches long size of my ring finger... Not for my Cham but my beardies get the bigger ones

@Lindawaz... I just feed one to my Cham it tried to put up a fight by holding on to the leaf.. My Cham was not giving up ...yank him off the leaf ...LOL Poor Worm !! LOL :D :D

but very happy Cham! Mine loves them but remember they are not a staple but
a great treat! What a fun treat too!

@Lindawaz... Yeah I know.. Just a treat.. I need a way to keep more crickets... The way this Cham eats trickets.. Im gonna have to claim him on my taxes LOL

I bought one of those plastic 3 tier drawer units- it allows air in, they can't come out I keep the third drawer empty I use it to transfer crix from the drawer I am cleaning and put it where the dirty one was. I use the top for my worm cups. You can find them pretty cheap too

When I have hornworm cups I place them lid down on top of the cham cage. It is screen so there is still air flow. Moe doesn't seem to be bugged about it.

they should be placed lid down, so the brown food is at the top. This way they climb up to eat and poop and the poop falls on the lid and you empty the poop from the lid. Otherwise, the poop will be in the food if you put it lid up!!

I personally only feed mine up to 2". but my chams arent full grown. they seem fine at that size, but 3" seems a bit big to me(for mine)
Now Im gonna give the big ones to Suzi and she pupates them!!
