Hot glue issues sticking (ventilation screens on bins)

So I'm finding that many of the screens I've hot glued are just popping off. I've used enough, but after a short period of time the whole screen just comes off. I have too many colonies to be worrying about this all the time. Seems to mainly happen with the target sterilite gasket bins. Any suggestions? I've tried different tapes and they eventually pop off as well.

Not all types of hot glue are created equal. Have you tried other brands and types of hot glue or have you stuck to the same brand/kind of glue?

Have you tried getting some 80 grit sand paper and scuffing the bin before gluing? This should provide a better adhesion.

Is the glue popping off the bins too? Have you tried scoring the plastic?

Ahhh that's a good idea! Literally was just sanding down our cabinets today to be painted, you'd think I would have thought of this.

I use vulkem roof adhesive, sticks to everything but takes 3 days to dry

Good idea if I didn't already have bins full of roaches. In 3 days I might as well free range all my colonies

A lot of species can, hissers are amazing climbers for example

Of course.. if you need an emergency fix you could drill a few holes the size of the smallest zip tie to hold the screen on till you get the correct glue etc..

I believe that it was the gorilla brand glue sticks that worked best for me, but I am not 100%. I have several different brands in my craft area. I should have thrown out the ones that weren't working well when I was making my daughters' solar system, unicorn and spring costumes last year, but I was on a time crunch and making three costumes was an undertaking.

I also agree that scuffing the bins will help tremendously. I have also found super glue to work pretty well for projects like this, but it can easily get messy if your not careful.

Makes sense, gorilla brand is usually pretty reliable. I'd use superglue, but it would take so long to do all of my bins lol. I think the sanding+hot glue should do the trick. I have some bins that have a rougher texture and they have the same hot glue on them from 4 years ago.

Rtv sealant (used for automotive gaskets) might be overkill, but it works well for me

While my buggy enclosures haven’t been in use all that long, I have found that gorilla hot glue has held well and better than just regular hot glue.
