It was pretty much 90 degrees today in the room where I keep my panther and jackson. I decided to turn off the basking lamp. Was this the right thing to.do? I keep the mister working double time.

Well, the temps near the bottom to mid point of the enclosure should be 75-80 degrees. So it's probably not good if the entire area is at 90 degrees.

I agree but the only variable in my control was to turn off the basking lamp, I left the UVB light on. What do others do when the outside ambient temp is higher then the normal basking temp?

Thx Ted

First I turn off the heat lamp, then if I need to lower it more, I turn on the air.

I go for easy, cheap, first.:)

NO air conditioner in San Diego, it only gets this way during extreme Santa Anna condtions. Maybe two or 3 times a year. I have been here for 35 years and have never had AC and only use the heater 4 or 5 days a year.

thx Diego

Get a fan to help circulate the air. It may help bring down the temp a little. I would turn the basking light off if the ambient temp is that high. We had similar temps a few days ago in LA although not quite that high. I opened all the windows and ran the fan on high. It kept things from going too high but I think my panther was a little uncomfortable.

That's what I did! About all I could do except run the misting system more often.
