You need a caclium supplement to without the d3. Do you use a linear uvb bulb?

i have the bulb on from 8-8 and i use a temp gauge in the terrarium. I can't get those products at the local petshop since she hardly orders stuff for my cham. i also plan on getting or building a new cage i found a very nice one on craigslist for 15 bucks so i will be checking that out. and i will be getting more food for gutloading. too. the species is a male veiled chameleon. and has been in the cage since i got the cham. since he was so tiny and it was cold in my area when i purchased him i thought it would help for humidity. i have the coil bulb which is a mistake so i want to get a dif. one and a dif. topper and setup. too.

I stay away from those compacts. I've had entire clutches of beardies lose their eyesight from faulty bulbs. They may have fixed that problem, but until I hear otherwise, I consider them potentially dangerous. Sad part is, this happened with two different brands ('Zilla and ZooMed, if memory serves).

oh wow! I have Exo Terra its the Rainforest Kit, so i just bought the bulb... I plan on buying a new cage this weekend hopefully with lights too! :) and new plants! vitamins and more food :)

Zac,

I'm going to type this post with the chameleon's best interests in mind.

Please get your act together with your current chameleon, and do not take under any more responsibility with another chameleon or pet until you have the care of your current chameleon up to standards. I know you are trying with your chameleon, it's obvious. However, with all of the threads you've been making in the past it seems you have taken on a little too much responsibility.

I really hope that the situation changes soon. I don't want to see the chameleon you currently have get into any worse shape. I'm really glad to see that you are considering taking him to the vet and that you will be purchasing items that will benefit you and your chameleon.

Well, I'd be we are all looking forward to pictures of the updated cage once you go and get everything bought, and per chance you go to the vet, their opinion. Be sure you get to a qualified herp vet, not an "exotics" vet.

You need to fix all of these things fast. If you leave that coil bulb in for any longer you will risk your cham going blind. Just get the repcal brand calcium, you can't go wrong with that. Get ready to spend a lot of money fixing all your problems lol.

thanks so much for your concerne but i don't plan on getting anymore animals since i am moving soon. I plan on hopefully getting new supplies and everything else that can meet the requirements. I hope to take him to the vet but that is always up to my mom. she doesn't think he has any problems but she honestly knows nothing about my animals.
thanks again syn

alrighty! i will be going to get a new bulb tomorrow :) and hopefully order my things i need this week :)

Well educate her. I had to do that with my mom and now she knows when there is a problem with my cham we have to take them to the vet.

also just until i do get my new cage? can i divide up Delilahs in the middle and block of the middle in the bottom so they don't see eachother? just until i get the new cage?

If your mother is going to cause issues because she "honestly knows nothing" about your chameleon, you may want to find a new home for your chameleon. It's really starting to irk me that your story seems to change from thread to thread with no logical reason. I could have sworn you had told everyone you had the right supplements or had already gone out to get them. You really need to consider rehoming your chameleon to a home that will have no issues giving your chameleon what it deserves. It seems your mother may very well be an obstacle to that.

I really hope you consider all of the options and choose the best one.

oh i tried! she ignores it! D: she hates lizards! D: but she thinks Darwin and Delilah are cute but doesn't listen...

okay not gonna be an ass or anything but you go ahead and try and find an educated person on Chameleons in South Dakota. most of them own cats and dogs and hamsters. I had them but I couldn't find them since I rearranged my room. i thought that i had multivitamin spray but it turned out being D3. my mom is an obstacle, but when she is an only parent and struggling to pay bills after my dad died she has a reason to say no to things. i make my own money to help keep them alive. i may not have every little thing out there for them but i keep thems safe and feed them and don't abuse them. you may think it is abuse to keep him in a glass cage, but when he is super small. and you don't want to get the big cage for him that he will need in 6 months than you can call it w.e. you want. i have taken your advice and others and i am doing my best i said I am getting him to the vet as soon as possible, and getting better supplies for him. i take your advice and then you tell me to get rid of them? how is that being helpful.?

It's really unfortunate you purchased a chameleon knowing there were no good vets where you live (and even if you didn't know, you should have known). I mentioned nothing of abuse to be kept in a glass cage. It's possible with the right set up and knowledge. I am not telling you to get rid of them, I am only saying it is an option.

Oh and.. Multivitamin spray? I didn't know it came in a spray.

Oh, and please stop changing your story around, many of us are having a hard time keeping up. I am just waiting for a post that doesn't include an excuse as to why your chameleon can't have the best care it needs.

I agree with syn. Maybe you need to take a break from chams for the time being. Get all the supplies you need before you even have a chameleon, then make your purchase. You have to know that this is a very expensive hobby and if you can't afford it then you really shouldn't just jump into it. I'm not trying to be mean though! Btw I'm sorry about your father :(

yeah they have a vet in my town Westside animal clinic. they take in reptiles. and they do have multivitamin spray its Exo Terra thought that i had gotten it but i was mistaken.

well wher should i just dump it off? the side of the road? throw it in a tree? im not being mean or throwing a tantrum. i can afford it. its just my mom is having hard times since my dad died. i asked a question and people end up telling me to get rid of my animals? saying i shouldn't own them? and i didn't jump into it. I did my full research i didn't want to get a huge cage for him to get lost in. and couldn't find any food in it. so i went with the glass terrarium. but for you people i will go put them somewhere. were no one in this town probably knows how to take care of them..
