How Can I Tell If My Chameleon Is Drinking?

His eyes look fine. As said before your cage needs to dry out between spraying. If it is kept wet all the time there is a risk of him developing a respiratory infection. Try dribbling warer in front of him. Does he have a dripper. They can be good. His cage does not need misting at night. If you are using an ordinary household bulb for basking go for one with lower wattage. I have mine clamped to the cage and I can raise or lower it.:)

Give it time. She was really thirsty after laying her eggs. It's the cutest thing. I got my veiled pair as babies almost a year ago. Just be patient and give proper care and they can surprise you with something new. It's always exciting to discover a new behavior.

Hi! I don't know if this will help or not but I had a fogger going on the top part of my mesh cage and it sprayed a bit of water out on to the ceiling mesh while it was going. Next thing I know, my chameleon is standing on his back legs and licking the ceiling for the droplets. Don't get me wrong, I mist all the time so he always has plenty of water available, but apparently those droplets looked yummy. So maybe if he's not drinking a lot, try misting the top of his cage until there are droplets coming in (I tried pouring straight water onto the mesh top to make it "rain" like I've seen others do, but the water just went straight through that way!) and see if he'll go for it.

I also found this link too; it might answer the humidity question. :) Good luck!

The links below are really good. I just got a panther chameleon (my first chameleon) and they have really helped me know what to do to keep my friend healthy. Maybe you've already read these, but thought I'd throw it out there just in case they are helpful to you. :)

Reganold, I think you might be able to get the same effect by just spraying down the top of the cage (avoiding the lights as much as possible and hitting any electrical) with your spray bottle; I haven't tried it but it should work. :)
