How do I keep my chameleon off the lid?

How do I keep my chameleon from climbing on the screen lid of her cage? I am afraid she'll burn herself when I am not home. Is there anyway to be sure that she won't burn herself?

I was curious about this as well. Mine hasn't done it in front of me for a while, but when we first brought her home she was directly under her basking light under the screen. We got her to come down with a fake vine. We recently moved her cage and added a few more spots closer to her basking bulb so maybe that's why she stopped climbing on the screen. I definitely feel like I learn something new about her every day!

I moved her plants around so she has more under the basking lamp but when she sleeps she likes to be on the lid. But I don't want her up there when the lights come on in the morning.

My little guy is the same, loves scaling his branches to get to the screen top. I switched to an infrared heat bulb that doesn't overheat the mesh but still keeps his favourite basking spot in the 30s and moved all his plants vines and branches around and higher so he has lots of places to get down from. They do love being up high and climbing so rather than trying to stop him I just try to make it safe for him to explore

I assume that's C* not F* right.:)

I just came across a post suggesting to move your light fixture up a bit to keep the top of the cage from getting too hot. It may be too difficult to keep them from climbing up there if that's where she likes to hang out and rest.

I shall try to do that. She seems to only get up there when the lights go out and where she lays the uvb lamp is about 6-8 inches above the cage, I'm just worried that there is a possibility of her getting burned if she stays up there after the lights turn on.
