How do I mount this without making a big hole?

I have the exo-terra digital Hygrometer/thermometer. This one I am trying to use it on my cage that I built from scratch. I would like the readout out side the cage but the sensor is huge so I would need a big hole to feed the wire through. Any one have any ideas about how to mount this without making a gihugent hole in the screen or in the frame?

How big is your cage? I have two 2'x2'x4's and they are riddled with little holes from wear n tear :p. If your not planning on selling the cage back to a store, go for a bigger hole and cover it with ducktape.

Actually, if you can take your cage apart, I'd saw a small rounded hole in one of the side corners, lay the wire through there, and then reconstruct the cage. That way you don't damage the mesh and the gihugent bit can be inside :)

I used them and just put the meter outside the cage and pulled the wire through the hole from where my misting system would go. You just put the meter outside and pull the wire through, I don't understand why you would think you need to make a hole the size of the meter?

Not the size of the meter, the size of the probe on the end of the wire. I have thought about cutting the wire and putting back together with a plug, but it seems risky

On some of my cages I just loosened the screws on top, slid it through and tightened the screws back up. One I have going through the door, the door just opens and closes easily with the wire at the top corner lol. That is my temporary outdoor sunning cage, but just goes to show you how little of a space is needed for the wire;)

i have the same one i just cut a hole big enought to fit the sensor and then used the suction cup to block the hole

Ok I figured it out. I ran the wire through the hinge side of the door. There is a nice gap and the wires do not get pinched. Thanks to all for the help;)

I guess you guys must have different kind of enclosures than we have here in the Netherlands, we usually have sliding doors. So we could slide open a door, and we always would have a little gap for the wire to get through. To make sure no insects escape we have special strips to push between the sliding doors.

that exactly what i used to do for mine..you can just dremel out a lil curcular section to run wireing..i sealed my excess crack or space between the wires with hot glue..
