How do I put the Exo Terra Monsoon RS400 misting system on a timer?

I recently bought the above-mentioned misting system, which conveniently has a cycle button, where it turns on every so many hours for however many seconds.

However, my question is, if I put the system on a timer, does anyone know it will turn on to the regular "on" or to the "cycle" mode? If it turns to "on" the water just constantly mists, and the place would flood. But if it turns on to "cycle" mode it will start the cycle and whatnot. I'm just nervous about this, so I haven't tried it yet. Just wanted to see if anyone who owned it knew what would happen, or how to make it turn on to the "cycle" mode automatically instead of just "on" mode. Thanks!

I had the same set-up and it remained on the timer setting. One point to note is that as soon as the separate timer goes off, the Monsoon will activate.

Incidentally, I had no end of problems with the Monsoon (four separate units to date), the most concerning if which was the timer getting wet, malfunctioning and attempting to drown my chameleon!

I have mine on a time so it shuts off at night, when it comes back on it goes into cycle mode.

Great question. I was given this same system and the cycle mode does not work correctly. It comes on every few minutes for several seconds no matter what the sittings are set at. I was told that I could get a digital timer and set it to come on several times a day for two minutes at a time. I am also confused as to how I set up the system. Would I just set it to turn on the "on" mode?

It sounds like it is faulty to me. I have had several of these units that developed the same issue.

Personally, I would contact the retailer you purchased it from and request a refund.

If you want to use the system with a separate timer, leave the Monsoon set to 'On' and let the separate timer handle when the system is activated.

Obviously keep an eye on it initially to make sure it's behaving as intended.
