how do you fire up your chameleon?

Thaxter is unperturbed by mirrors, and by any colors he's thus far encountered. If he's disturbed when he's sleepy, he'll sometimes put on a bit of a show.

The chams firing up for yellow plastic cups, blue plaid and leather gloves remind me of our last betta, who would reliably display if confronted with (drum roll): a blue fine-point Sharpie. He really had it in for that pen.

so last night, while my cham was sleeping, i was changing out his heat bulb to his heat night light, and he flipped out!!! he fell off of the perch he was sitting on and hit the floor(thank god he was sleeping on the lowest perch) then he started to run around frantically until he just stopped in the middle of his cage.... so i picked him up to check him out..... this is what he looked like,

ps, sorry about the pics being so bad it from my cell phone!!:D
pss, ive never seen his color like that either!!
his bars almost looked purple!! unreal!!

Seems normal behaviour to escape when you are suddenly woken in the middle of the night.
Why are you using a night heat bulb?
Your panther will really benefit from cooler temperatures at night.

Sorry to hijack, but your panther looks a little dehydrated. What is your misting schedule and what do his poos look like?

well, my misting schedual goes like this, fill dripper in the moring, mist befor work(around 10am) then come home mist at lunch, then befor i go to bed,

im not 100% correct on what my low night temp gets but its prob. in the mid 60's to low 70's, and with that night light i know it stays in the mid to high 70's

is this bad for night temp, please lets me know if im wrong about anything

thanks!

no need for night light unless it drop below 60F.
they will probably can stand 50F; although, i don't recommend putting them in such extreme temp.

i have the same problem, my guy is always an unattractive brown or black. the only time he looks night is when he is sleeping, or sometime when he eats crickets he will get some color to him. haha oh well.

I was about to say it too.
the eyes looked a bit sunken.

The eyes do look sunken just a little. It could be a hydration issue. Make sure you look at the poops:) The urates (non brown part) should be white. It could also be a stress/mood issue. One of my guys will sink his eyes in whenever he gets fired up or if I have to move/ clean or really do anything around him. He just doesnt like people. Anyway check his poops if the white is orangish then bump up his misting times or frequency. Also if he isnt getting enough water a dripper should be added.

Warm water will get mine to drink no matter what... just fill your spray bottle with the hot water side from the faucet so that its warm to (your) touch.
Sometimes I think my guy won't even drink from the dripper and waits for me to spray him so I've always kept an eye on the poop color and never had an issue but most of the time he'd rather I don't watch him drink. Only a couple days ago when my brother was babysitting and didn't water him all afternoon until I got home at night was he willing to come up to the spray bottle and open his mouth lol i think he's training me- Also, mine prefers to drink in the morning after waking up before he eats.
Have to agree eyes look a bit sunken in.
Usually I take the spray bottle with me to the bathroom in the morning when I wake up after I turn on his lights, then fill it from the shower once I'm done and heading back to my room lol hope that's not too visual for anyone!
