How do you set up a live plant for a veiled chameleon?

You can add other things aside from perlite, such as small lava rock, medium charcoal, and orchid mix, to aerate the soil. Yes, I would add one or a combination of those to your planting mix and then top that with stones that are too large to be ingested.

Sorry for keep going on, its just that i really want the best for my chameleon and i am ocd about it all. I just want my little chameleon to be safe thats all
Of course you want what's best for your baby! I just wanted to put a little humor into things. Please don't take any offense. Nothing was implied or assumed. It was merely what came to my mind as soon as I saw the thread title. I couldn't help but laugh, and thought others would too. I am glad to see new members taking advantage of the wealth of knowledge on this site. Congrats on your new addition, and share some pics!

I'm an award winning horticulturists, so my advice is based in what's best for growing plants, not just how to set it up for the chameleon. The truth is that very few potting soils available have enough aeration for the wet conditions inside a chameleon enclosure. Will you plant die if you don't? Many people do have trouble with killing plants in their enclosure, may also do not have any troubles. I giving you the best possible scenario for successfully keeping the plants.

My best advice to you is to seek out a houseplant or indoor gardening forum, in the U.K. and ask what the best, ready to use mix available there is.
Organic is a buzzword that really means squat, when it comes to potting mixes. Fertilizer isn't harmful, as long as it isn't eaten directly. Pesticides are harmful, but they are not a component of potting soil, but are added during the potting of plants for sale, in some cases. There's no need to source out anything except a fast draining, pH stable, soil less, potting mix.

Yes, possibly. Soil may imply compost, but not always. Potting mix is more likely peat or coir based, but not always. Both are just generic words, used interchangeably. Either is fine.
