This will be for an adult. If the cage is to small please tell me. 100 gallon reptarium 17.5x30x48. Water method:water dripper onto a small removable dish. Feeding crickets mainly superworms ever so often. Calcium withour d3 ounce a week and with d3 ounce every 2 weeks. Heating: Clamp lamp does anyone know what it takes to get right temps. like whats a good bulb to use for this size tank? Uvb: What should I use and can someone link a good thing to house the bulbs? anything Im missing?

raise the height to 50" to compensate for the 17.5" width.
If you want to use the 48", then lengthen the width to 24"

Why would a couple of inches matter. I couldnt change it because its a pre-made cage im not making it.

then buy a bigger one.
the smallest size 4 adult is 24"L 24"W 48"H or bigger.
if you are going to sacrifice the width, then you have to compensate..
otherwise, it'll be too small for your cham.

u cannot go smaller than 18" W to b honest.

that cage is fine. i like the size. 1/2 here and 2 inches there. no big deal. mine is a 50x20x20. you just need to make the cage so it meets the needs of the cham(u did) and the room you have to put the cage.

So half an inch really makes a differnce?

i think so.. not so much of half an inch.. but you have cross the border line of minimum width length.
especially if you have male veiled, an adult normally grows to 16".. and some chameleon can grow larger than that.. if you have 17.5 inches and you happen to have a "large" chameleon, he will bump the screen every time he needs to turn around. Ideally it supposed to be 24".
But, for female veiled, i think your cage will suffice.. as they are generally doesn't grow as big as the male

Also b reminded that chameleon never stop growing.
The only thing difference between the baby and the adult is the growth rate.
Adult has much slower rate..

You can buy that cage... but you will risk buying another one soon if your chameleon happened to grow out of it.
by buying a bigger cage, you'll save your money.

IMHO Chameleon tends to stress easily when their enclosure is too small.
Height, Width, and length (in that order).
my chameleon is 6" in length now.. and he's already stress out from his baby enclosure (12" width)
I am anxiously waiting for his new enclosure which suppose to come this week...

I'm just hoping that he can be patient in his tiny cage..
one or 2 more days, baby.. be patient :(

u have 20" W... that is acceptable.. Plus you add couple of inches in the height to compensate.

His 17.5" width is the one that concern me.
Adult cham's normal size is about 16".. that is 1.5" only from bumping the screen sides.
And remember, his cham could be a big one..

i say he'll be fine with 30X18Xand 50
or just buy 24 24 48.. that is for sure the safest one.

yea i understand that dodolah, but just hear me out. lol i really dont wanna argue, b/c u and me usually agree on most stuff. the cham will be 16 inches and the cage is 17.5.......but how often do you see a chameleon streched out and straight as an arrow? never, they go up and down and when basking they have their tail all wrapped up in the surrounding limbs.

hahahaha no argument here :D
I'm trying to save him money..

Actually, my chameleon often does that straight walking when he hunts and explores around the cage. quite funny looking..
During shedding, chameleons often stretch and arch his back.. so, i say give him extra space.. I know i would be pissed off if i am stretching in the morning and my hands hit the wall :)

That cage size is fine... All of my Male cages are about that. They are screen, not that pvc cage thing... I HATE them, but that is just me... I am sure if will be fine for you. Get a 10.0 bulb to make up for the super black mesh.

Edit: The first cage that you wanted to get that is... 24x24x-anything is a large foot print! Make sure you have a large area set aside.
